A group of Marion County people attended Older Kansans Day Feb. 18 in Topeka. They met with Senator Jim Barnett, observed the House of Representatives in session, and had lunch with Representative Bob Brookens. Those attending included Gayla Ratzlaff, Shirley Bowers, Marlene Anduss, Jerry Kline, Mike and Noreen Weems, and Tom and Dee Duggan.
Jim Clemmer with Jim Elliott, Clint Seibel, and Matthew Cox spent Wednesday in Hutchinson where they attended a meeting of the “First Impressions” group.
Adeline Bernhardt took Lucille Kerbs out for breakfast Tuesday morning at the café.
Greg Sklenar of Wichita was an overnight guest Sunday of his mother, Lois Sklenar. Lois’ daughter, Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro, joined them Sunday.
Joyce Cox of Abilene and Tom and Dee Duggan accompanied Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington Saturday evening to Talmadge. They attended an annual valentine dinner. This year’s event was a Gilligan’s Island theme. A group from Wichita brought musical entertainment.
Sunday dinner guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika were Tom and Lori Moldenhauer, Nikki and a friend, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna, and a friend. Dinner included valentine’s desserts. They exchanged valentine gifts and helped Ronnie celebrate his birthday.
Family members helped Lucille Kerbs celebrate her birthday Sunday with dinner out in Abilene. Those attending included Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn, Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney, Tim and Marchelle Kerbs and Molly, and Doug and Connie Thompson, Allison, and Taylor. After dinner, they went to the Thompson home for birthday cake and ice cream. Lucille received many gifts, cards, and phone calls.
Edna Mueller was a Sunday dinner guest of Adeline Bernhardt.
Mary Clemmer was impressed with a recent performance by her 5-year-old great-granddaughter who sang a song, naming the U.S. presidents in order. She didn’t need any prompting until she got past Grover Cleveland. How many adult readers of this newspaper could do that?

Tom and Dee Duggan went to Junction City Saturday morning for their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall’s, basketball game.
