Many Tampa people attended the annual meeting of Tri-County Telephone March 17 at Centre High School. Tillie Hein was recognized and given $100 as the oldest subscriber — one for each year of her age.

Glenn Kerbs of Dodge City was a guest Tuesday of Lucille Kerbs for supper and stayed overnight. Glenn grilled steaks for his mother.

Ryan Spohn, Adam and Lauren were overnight guests Tuesday of Gary and Carole Spohn. They also visited Georgia Spohn.

Allison Phillips was an overnight guest Sunday of her grandmother, Lucille Kerbs. Monday morning they met Julie Kerbs and Rustyn in Durham for breakfast.

Nicholas Kleiber of Salina visited his grandmother, Leona Kleiber, Monday afternoon. He was en route home from a weekend with his sister and family, Dale and Andrea Klenda and Elijah.

Kaylee Hall of Herington was an overnight guest Monday of her grandparents, Tom and Dee Duggan. On Tuesday, she went to a Girl Scout outing at Emporia. Darla Hall came Tuesday to spend a few days with the Duggans. Deb Hall joined them in attending a fire department fundraiser Tuesday evening at Roxbury. All visited at the Duggan home Wednesday and went to a movie.

Guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha for spring break were Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew, Peter, Maria, and John of Chippewa Falls, Wisc., Susie Rziha of Independence, Cecilia Rziha of Wichita, and Julie Rziha of Atchison.

Lucille Kerbs visited Leona Kleiber Monday afternoon.

Kathy Kroupa and Tillie Hein visited Martha Melcher Sunday afternoon in Herington and then attended a card party at the Catholic hall.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita was a weekend guest of his mother, Lois Sklenar. Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro was an additional Sunday dinner guest.

Sunday dinner guests of Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were Lucille Kerbs and Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney.

Janet Bielefeld and Michele Berens and Addie went to El Dorado Saturday to watch Addie participate in regional 4-H day. Addie received a blue ribbon on a reading project talk. She and her brother, Reece, were eligible to take a reading they did together to the regional event, but Reece was participating in a state chess tournament in Wichita. There were 103 fourth and fifth grade players competing at the chess tournament. Reece won three games and lost three. The Hillsboro Elementary School team brought home a third-place trophy. The team placements were based on the record of the top four players on the team. Since Hillsboro’s team only had four players, this was quite a feat. Congratulations, Addie and Reece!

Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor Saturday in Abilene. All enjoyed eating out.

Danielle Routh of Augusta, granddaughter of Leona Kleiber, took second-place Saturday at the state spelling bee in Great Bend. Congratulations, Danielle!

Steve and Sheri Spohn of Hope, Ryan Spohn, and Jamie Hall of Manhattan, Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn enjoyed supper out Saturday in Council Grove as a belated celebration of Carole’s birthday.

David and Caterina Rziha, Isabel and Samuel of Atchison were weekend guests of his parents, Jerry and Jeanne Rziha.

Carl Hubbard was a Friday dinner guest of Adeline Bernhardt.

Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington and Joyce Cox of Abilene accompanied Tom and Dee Duggan Thursday evening to a free movie at the Eisenhower visitors’ center in Abilene.

Jeanne Rziha returned from Tulsa, Okla., Saturday after spending several days with Wayne Rziha, Cecilia, Anthony, and Daniel while Shannon Rziha was in the hospital.

Members of the Red Hat Society met for dinner Thursday at a Tampa restaurant. After the meal, all went to the home of Adeline Bernhardt for games and refreshments. Ramona Beisel won a door prize. Ramona Goracke, Joyce Cox, Barb Askew, and Rhea Kolling won other prizes. Others attending were Alice Bell of Herington, Anita Hummel and Betty Schlesener of Hope, Dee Duggan, and Leona Kleiber.

Amanda Baxa of Kansas City, Andrea Klenda and Elijah, and Leona Kleiber enjoyed supper out March 11 in Lost Springs.

Bill and Ruth Taylor of Shawnee were overnight guests March 11 of Paul and Edna Backhus.
