The Tampa area was treated to a major snowstorm Friday and Saturday. The good news was electric power failed for only a short time, and there was little or no ice. Most people were unable to get out of their houses on Saturday and much of Sunday, so news is pretty scarce.

Although the snow was not welcome to most adults, children were having a good time playing in it. Tim Svoboda was pulling his three sons on sleds behind his all-terrain vehicle and passers-by could admire a snowman built by Tanner, Austin, and Kyle Peterson. The city council deserves a lot of credit for getting the streets cleared promptly, even though the city’s tractor quit Saturday. A big thank you to Tim Svoboda, Paul Backhus, and everyone else who helped clear snow from our streets! Almost all of the snow had melted by Monday afternoon.

Georgia Spohn met Melvin Mohn of Lyons, his two nieces, Diane and Sue, and Sue’s husband in Hillsboro Wednesday for dinner and visiting.

Michelle Gooding of Marion visited Lucille Kerbs Tuesday afternoon.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika are spending a lot of time with Ronnie Hanschu, James and Anna this week while Lisa Hanschu is away on business. James and Anna are really enjoying Grandma’s cooking.

Kathy and Carl Hubbard were Sunday afternoon visitors of her mother, Adeline Bernhardt. They picked up their dog, Oscar, who had been Adeline’s houseguest for awhile.

Supper guests Friday evening of Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney and Lucille Kerbs. Russ grilled steaks. All except Jesse also were Sunday dinner guests. Jesse was busy clearing roads.

Nikki Stenzel and James Weber were Sunday visitors of their grandparents, Frank and Anna Mae Stika.
