Most people around here are enjoying the fall weather, although some have reported having the furnace on at night and the air conditioner the next day.
Sunflower Senior Citizens met Tuesday at the senior center with five members and one guest present. Mike Lindsey, a representative of Broadway Medical Supplies, came to offer information about available health aids. Members present were Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, Margaret Jirak, Tom Duggan, and Jane Vajnar.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended Hope Heritage Day Saturday.
Paul and Edna Backhus were Saturday morning breakfast guests of Bill and Ruth Taylor of Shawnee. Other guests were Vic Backhus of Herington, Alvin and Iva Lou Backhus of Hiawatha, Lydia Evans of Haysville, Gerald and Alice Youkman of Wichita, and Mildred Bernhardt of Lyons.
A number of Tampa people attended the all-church birthday supper at the Durham Baptist church Sunday evening. The Lighthouse Quartet brought the program.
Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Saturday and enjoyed dinner out with her granddaughter, Taylor Thompson.
Jane Vajnar attended a district meeting of Kansas Authors Club in Junction City Saturday. After the meeting she enjoyed dinner out with three fellow members, Dorothy Masters, Bill Karnowsky, and Helen Simpler.
Paul and Edna Backhus attended the wedding of Andrew and Felicia Backhus at Unity Temple in Kansas City, Mo., Saturday, followed by a reception and dance.
Kaylee Hall of Herington was a Friday overnight guest of Tom and Dee Duggan.
The Saint John Lutheran Women’s Missionary League met Sept. 4 in the church basement. Betty Mueller was the hostess. Joyce Medley gave devotions, and Pastor Clark Davis led the topic. Others present were Kathy Davis, Leona Kleiber, and Edna Backhus.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended a meeting Thursday of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees in Herington.
