Chase County led 6-0 when Cole Srajer made two consecutive baskets to put Centre on the scoreboard. After baskets by Dylan Deines and Dakota Stimpson and a free throw by Justin Bina, Centre led 13-10.
The second quarter was nip-and-tuck as the two teams tied numerous times. Jared Barney had a good quarter, scoring 10 points including 2 treys. Centre led 35-33 at halftime.
Chase County opened the third period with 9 unanswered points and a 7-point lead. Cody Svoboda made 2 free throws, Deines made a layup, and Srajer added a trey to close the gap to 3 points. Centre trailed by 5 points at the end of the quarter.
The Cougars fell behind by as much as 13 points in the fourth quarter, and a comeback effort wasn’t enough to win the game, as Centre walked away with a 6-point loss.
Five Cougars scored in double figures. Srajer had 17 points, Deines and Stimpson, 13 points each, and Barney and Bina, 11 points each.
