County has spate of rollover wrecks

Staff writer

Two Friday rollover accidents in the east portion of the county were followed by a Monday rollover on the west edge, with three occupants being taken to area hospitals.

According to sheriff’s reports, a 2006 Pontiac Torrent driven by Aaron Leann Moore, 34, Burns, was westbound on 20th Rd. Friday morning when Moore lost control of the vehicle on a gravel road just east of Xavier Rd. The SUV veered into the eastbound lane before veering back into the north ditch, overturning and coming to rest on its roof.

Burns fire and first response, Peabody ambulance, and Florence rescue responded to the scene, although repeated transmissions from dispatchers were needed to confirm the location for incoming units.

Lifeteam also was notified of the situation by dispatchers, but arrival of a helicopter was estimated to be more than an hour.

Peabody ambulance transported Moore to Susan B. Allen Hospital in El Dorado.

Friday evening, a 1997 Ford F25 driven by Devin Hunter Soyez, 16, Marion, was westbound on 190th Rd. a half mile east of US-77 when the pickup veered into the north ditch. Soyez was cited in the report as telling deputies he was looking over to change the radio when the pickup veered into the ditch.

Soyez overcorrected, sending the pickup skidding into the south ditch, where it overturned and came to rest on its roof.

Marion EMS took Soyez to St. Luke Hospital. A passenger, David James Francis III, 16, Marion, was not taken to the hospital.

On Monday evening, a rollover accident happened on Eagle Rd. between 130th and 140th. Although Sheriff Rob Craft declined to comment on the accident, saying he had not yet gotten a written report, dispatch records show the diver was taken to Newton Medical Center.
