NEW ARRESTS

Mathew L. Bice, 37, Marion, jailed Monday on court orders. Previously jailed May 21 to 29 on suspicion of distributing drugs and possessing marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and stolen property; Jan. 5 and 6, 2021, on suspicion of possessing drugs and drug manufacturing paraphernalia and driving while his license was suspended, canceled, or revoked; and June 28 to Aug. 5, 2020, on suspicion of possessing stolen property and drug paraphernalia, interfering with law enforcement, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Elizabeth S. Brown, 49, McPherson, jailed Friday for 12 days on court orders. Previously jailed Oct. 6 to 11, 2021, on court orders; Oct. 25 to 26, 2020, for allegedly violating probation; and Nov. 17 to Dec. 22, 2020, on suspicion of twice possessing a controlled substance, once possessing marijuana, and once driving while her license was canceled, suspended, or revoked.

Zachary M. Burwell, 24, Salina, arrested Saturday by Hillsboro police, taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital, then transferred to county jail on suspicion of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, domestic battery, battery, and criminal damage to property. Released Sunday evening — without bond, according to jail records, or on $10,000 surety bond, according to Hillsboro police.

Heliandro A. Lopes, 21, Fort Riley, arrested Saturday by a state trooper on suspicion of driving while his license was canceled, suspended, or revoked. Released two hours later on $1,000 surety bond.

Charles W. Matthews, 40, Herington, arrested Thursday by a sheriff’s deputy for failing to appear in court and on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a weapon and of driving while his license was canceled, suspended, or revoked. Released 20 hours later on $5,750 in surety bonds.

Carey E. Penrod Jr., 32, Herington, jailed Monday on court orders. Previously jailed Aug. 27 to Sept. 15 for failing to appear in court, June 25 for allegedly violating probation, and July 6 to 12, 2020, on suspicion of possessing drugs and drug paranphernalia.
