Couple celebrating 50th anniversary

Elven and Marsha Marshall of Marion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today.

 They were married Jan. 11, 1973, in Loveland, Colorado.

He retired from Canadian Pacific Railway in December of 2013, ending his 42-year career as a locomotive engineer.

After retirement he spent several summers working as a fireman for Black Hills Central Railroad in Hill City, South Dakota. 

She was a stay-at-home mother while her children were small and more recently worked as a clerk at Little Mart Convenience Store in Harvey, North Dakota, while also caring for the couple’s aging parents.

The couple moved to Marion, in 2015 to be closer to their grandchildren. 

They have two children, Jennifer Blackman of Marion and Nick Marshall of Denver, and three grandchildren, Matthew Baker of El Dorado, Brayden Blackman of Marion, and Bailey Baker of Edmond, Oklahoma.
