The children of Joe and Arlene (Makovec) Evans are requesting a card shower in honor of the parents’ 65th wedding anniversary Aug. 24.

Marion native Arlene Makovec moved to Chase County as a young girl. The couple married Aug. 24, 1957, at St. Anthony’s Church in Strong City.

Joe, a 20-year Army veteran, operated an upholstery shop for more than 40 years. Arlene was a homemaker.

Their children are Debby Baker of Miltonvale and Cindy Cooper and Eddie Evans, both of Cottonwood Falls. They also have nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
