COVID booster shot available
Seniors, special cases can sign up for third dose

Booster shots for COVID-19 vaccinations will be available in Marion County starting Nov. 3.
The state approved the Centers for Disease Control’s recommendations for Moderna, J&J, and Pfizer booster shots and supplies have been sent to medical providers.
Pfizer or J&J boosters may be scheduled by calling the health department at (620) 382-2550. People getting their booster shots at the health department will need to present an insurance card if they have one so the health department can bill for administration of the shot. The shot itself is free, whether or not the person has insurance.
Moderna booster clinics will be 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 3 and 10 at Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro. Appointments should be made online at the county website, marioncoks.net, or by calling the health department at (620) 382-2550.
People coming for a booster shot should bring their COVID vaccination card as proof of their initial vaccines, and bring identification.
They should also wear short sleeves.
People can fill out a consent form on the website or get one at the health department, most city halls, or a doctor’s office.
Forms will be available at the clinic.
People coming for booster shots are asked not to arrive more than five minutes before their appointment. Anyone who needs to stay in their cars should tell a greeter at the facility entrance.
Kansans who have had their primary Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine series six months ago or longer may get a booster if they are 65 years of age and older regardless of a medical condition.
People 18 years of age and older qualify to get booster shots if they are residents of long-term care facilities, or are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional settings.
People 18 and older who got J&J vaccines two months or longer ago are qualified to get booster shots.
People who get booster shots are allowed to get either the same vaccine they originally got or pick which booster vaccine they prefer.
