Criminal cases

This information was the most current on file in criminal division of Marion County District Court as of April 5. Information often is not available until more than a week after hearings. Journal entries must be checked by the defense, prosecution, and judge before they are filed.

Daniel L. Bowes, 1216 E. Boston St., Wichita; pleaded no contest March 18 to a charge of felony theft; sentencing set for May 20; another charge of felony theft dismissed.

Justin L. Chrisjohn, 144 N. Roosevelt St., Marion; status hearing on motion to revoke probation continued from March 18 to April 15.

Doug B. Eden, 116 W. 3rd St., Peabody; preliminary hearing continued from March 20 to April 3 on charges of domestic battery, attempted criminal restraint, and two counts criminal damage to property.

Kimberly Joy Funk, 102 E. Kansas, Lehigh; made first appearance April 1 on motion to revoke probation; arraignment set for April 22.

Ervin Ray Goossen, 1463 Eagle Road, Hillsboro; first appearance continued from April 1 to April 22 on a charge of criminal damage to property.

Thomas J. Kerchner, 1710 N. Main, Apartment B2, Newton; made first appearance on motion to revoke probation March 27; arraignment set for April 1.

Lyle Lee Ledford, 408 W. 7th St., Florence; arraigned March 18 on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked; waived formal arraignment, pleaded not guilty to all charges, and requested a jury trial; scheduling conference set for April 10.

Chris Lieder, 313 S. Ash St., Hillsboro; pleaded no contest March 18 to a charge of possession of marijuana; sentencing set for April 15; charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and transporting liquor in an open container dismissed.

Billy Joe Prater Jr., 420 N. Lincoln St., Marion; plea agreement filed April 1; defendant agreed to plead no contest to a charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child; prosecution agreed to recommend a light sentence based on defendant’s criminal history and to not file additional charges.

Machelle Ratzloff, 1717 190th Road, Marion; seven counts of giving a worthless check dismissed April 3 after $1,180 restitution and fees paid.

Ryan Joel Shrewsbury, 2258 George Washington Drive, Wichita; waived preliminary hearing March 20; bound over on a charge of possession of methamphetamine; also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

Jean Luc Taylor, 900 N. Walnut St., McPherson; arraignment on motion to revoke probation continued from March 18 to March 27; defendant ordered to appear March 27.

Philip David Tyner, 420 E. Hickory, Hesston; preliminary hearing continued from March 20 to April 17 on charges of possession of methamphetamine and driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked.

Leslie Scott Yehle, 8615 E. 4th, Hutchinson; preliminary hearing continued from March 20 to April 17 on charges of nonresidential burglary and misdemeanor theft.

Justin Lee Chrisjohn, 144 N. Roosevelt St., Marion; status hearing continued from March 18 to April 15 on charges of driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked and failure to report an accident.

Patrick Egan, 123 Nickerson, Burns; arraignment continued from March 18 to March 25 on a charge of driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked.

Cody L. Fistler, 785 N. Old Mill Road, Peabody; motion to endorse Scott Proffitt as an additional witness granted March 4; bench trial on charges of driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked and no proof of insurance continued from March 12 to April 1 for status hearing.

Johnny Clarence Gibson, 1242 Dennis Blvd., Monck’s Corner, S.C.; status hearing held March 18 on charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and transporting liquor in an open container; plea hearing set for April 15.

Ethan Jacob Wessel, 215 S. Freeborn St., Marion; arraignment held March 20 on charge of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol; hearing on motion to suppress and arraignment set for April 22.

Glenn Arnold Yoder, 301 N. Vine St., Peabody; sentenced March 20 on a conviction of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol; sentenced to six-month controlling term underlying 12 months probation; ordered to serve 48 hours in jail, complete alcohol information school, submit to drug and alcohol testing, and complete 20 hours community service (or pay $7 per hour not completed); prohibited from entering establishments that make most of their revenue from alcohol sales.
