Former school principal and administrator D. Eugene Enos, 84, Marion, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1930, to Virgil and Mary (Ballantyne) Enos at Hope. He completed his master’s degree at Emporia State University. He married Phyllis Soule on Aug. 9, 1953.

He was a school principal and administrator. He was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, and three grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Daryl Enos of Marion, Debra Heidebrecht of Towanda, Teresa Snell of Ames, Iowa, Kelley Newsom of Belpre, and Kristi Wright of Emporia; siblings, Rodney Enos of Liberty Lake, Washington, and Roberta Marstall and Virginia Rezac, both of Manhattan; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Marion Christian Church. A committal service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Economy Cemetery, rural El Dorado.

A memorial fund has been established for Marion Christian Church.
