Dale Stoner

A committal service for Dale David Stoner, 91, Burns, who died Aug. 3, was Friday at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Born April 30, 1935, in Flint, Michigan, he came to Kansas City, Kansas, at age 11 to live with his aunt and uncle, Hazel and Everete Stoner, and brother, Vaughn.

In 1953, he graduated from Turner High School and attended the University of Kansas.

In 1955, he began as an elevator operator at Kansas City Power and Light and worked his way up to a position in accounting and eventually became an electrical distribution planner.

In 1958 and 1959, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany. For four years upon his return he served in the Army Reserves.

In 1978, he worked as a feed salesman for Moorman Manufacturing and raised pigs on his farm near Tonganoxie. He worked for several more companies — Capital Electric, PAR Electric, and BHC Rhodes — before retiring at 83.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Susan (Rock) Stoner; his three children, David Stoner, Susan Links, and Jodi Sledd; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren

Brother Cameron preceded him in death.
