Darlene Spicher

Darlene Lavering Spicher, 90, died Jan. 18, 2011, at her home in Kansas City, Mo.

The daughter of Edward H. and Anna (Pagenkopf) Tiemeier, of Marion, she attended Lincolnville schools and graduated from Lincolnville High School in 1938. She was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolvnille. After attending Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Mo., she worked as an accountant in Kansas City.

She married Albert J. Lavering in 1944. They were married for more than 50 years. They made their home in Kansas City. After retiring, they spent winters in McAllen, Texas, where he died.

She met Ray S. Spicher in McAllen. They were married in 1999 in Kansas, and they made their home in Ozawkie. In 2009, they moved to Wexford Place retirement center in Kansas City, Mo., where her husband survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Anna Channer and husband Craig of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Shirley Tuell and husband Jerry of Centennial, Colo., and Betty Coughlin of Las Cruces, N.M.; four stepsons, J.D. of Parkville, Mo., Dennis of Monument, Colo., Ellsworth of Chesapeake, Va.; and Randall of Missouri City, Texas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was 7 p.m. Jan. 24 at Way of the Cross United Methodist Church, Ozawkie, after cremation.
