Dehydrated woman collapses at reservoir

Rangers had to remove barricades to Marion Reservoir’s swimming beach Saturday so an ambulance could attend to a woman found unconscious at 7:26 p.m.
EMS director Travis Parmley said the woman, who is not from Marion County, had lost consciousness because of dehydration.
“I think it was a nature walk or that type of deal,” Parmley said.
Assistant lake manager Kevin McCoy said the woman might have come to the lake to view a royal tern, a coastal bird seen in Kansas for the first time last weekend.
“It occurred in the same area that the birdwatchers were flocking in to see this unique bird,” McCoy said. “It is normally a gulf species that ended up coming out and spending a bit of time in Marion.”
The woman was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital. Additional information was not available.
