Dolores Lee

Dolores Lee, 92, of El Dorado, passed away on July 25, 2017, at Lakepoint Assisted Living in El Dorado.

Dolores’s life began on March 21, 1925 in Marion. She is the daughter of Sidney Lionel and Ruth Clara (McCarty) Hobson.

Dolores is a 1942 graduate of Marion High School. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator before marrying Marvin Lee on Nov. 22, 1951, in Marion.

Dolores was a homemaker after marriage, raising the couple’s three children. She attended both Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado and Augusta United Methodist in Augusta, where she taught Sunday school for several years.

Dolores was an avid bowler in El Dorado, bowling three times a week into her 80s. She belonged to TOPS and KOPS and loved hummingbirds.

Her greatest joy was her family, which includes her children, Terry (and wife Lucy) Lee of Augusta, Debbie (and husband Jeff) Dunagan and Cheri (and husband Kelly) Bonnell, both of Wichita; grandchildren Jami, Tina, Brent, Jason, Mike, Janelle, Kory, Chris, and Amy; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Virginia (and husband Arnold) Starkel of El Dorado.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin; grandson Dean; infant brother Jason; and her companion and boyfriend, Bud Bailey.

Her family gathered with friends at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, El Dorado, for her memorial service led by the Rev. Steve Hysom.

She was laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Marion, at 3 p.m. Monday in a graveside service led by Chaplain Steve Ward of Heartland Hospice.

Carlson Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorial contributions in Dolores’s name may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice.
