Don’t know what it is? The yolk’s on you

Senior Center correspondent

Senior center patrons spent a day last week puzzled by a mystery implement offered for sale in the center’s craft corner.

Lanell Hett bought the item, checked with her dietitian daughter-in-law, and discovered it was an egg separator.

To make sure, Lanell went to the kitchen, got an egg, and cracked it under the supervision of Connie Fisher and Janet Bryant.

Sure enough, the weird wired utensil worked, separating the white from the yolk.

Also last week, Gene Winkler brought birthday treats June 30, and Darvin Markley brought beets, cucumbers, and squash.

Shirley Bowers decorated walls and a table in the entryway for Fourth of July and stuck small American flags in vases of flowers on the center’s tables.

Lanell Hett and Gayla Ratzlaff supervised a crew of volunteers who assembled another newsletter for the center.

Volunteers included Fred Puttroff, Norah Richter, Evelyn Jewett, Elsie Reiswig, Mary Ann Timm, Pat Busey, Irmagene Goodman, Mary Hett, Marilyn Geis, and Shirley Moore.

Bonnie Holtsclaw is scheduled to bring a musical program July 16.
