Dorothy’s coffee house reopens

A new crew and new breakfast menu items at Dorothy’s Coffee House and Tea Room were greeted by a steady stream of grateful customers as the Marion coffee house reopened Monday.
“A lot of people wanted it open,” said Jena Terrell, Hillsboro, the shop’s new manager.
The first day wasn’t without its bumps. A new computer wouldn’t print receipts and air conditioning needed time to get going.
But the reaction of visitors who missed the coffee spot during state-mandated shutdowns made up for it, she said.
“Everyone is pretty excited. I think everyone is really happy that it is back open,” Terrell said.
Visitors were asked to socially distance by sitting at every other table.
Duke and Glenda McCord of Gainesville, Texas, purchased the historic home in 2017. The couple intended to turn it into gathering place and counseling center.
Dorothy’s will be open most days from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., but Terrell said she would gladly stay open in the evenings if there was sufficient demand.
