AND OBITUARIES

Edie Ollenburger

Services for Marilyn Edith “Edie” (Gibson) Ollenburger, 95, Hillsboro, who died May 15, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Durham.

Born April 11, 1931, in Newton to James B. and Helen (Meyers) Gibson, she and her sisters lived with their aunt and uncle, Hannah and Will Grove, after Edie’s mother died when Edie was an infant.

Edie graduated from Halstead High School in 1949 and that same year was baptized by Pastor Albert Boelke at Durham Church of God.

She married Dean Ollenburger on March 5, 1950, at Durham Church of God. They lived on a farm west of Durham. After the Church of God closed, the couple transferred their membership to First Baptist Church.

In 1974, the couple moved to Hillsboro. Edie worked as a bookkeeper for Lange Conoco, Roundup, Wheatbelt, and Pioneer Food Service.

After Dean’s death in 2017, she moved to Parkside Homes.

Survivors include children Carolyn Kleiber, Marolyn Schlehuber, Kenneth Ollenburger and Sharolyn Buller, all of Hillsboro, along with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Sisters Ethel, Grace, and Dora preceded her in death.

Memorials have been established with Community Care Hospice and King’s Daughters at First Baptist Church.
