Educators marry in Salina

Katherine Leigh Mergen and Christopher Charles Barlow married on July 13 at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Church in Salina. The ceremony was officiated by Father Kerry Ninemire.

The bride is a graduate of Fort Hays State University. She is a speech-language pathologist with Marion County Special Education Cooperative and works in Peabody and Goessel. Doug and Susan Mergen of Salina are her parents. Mary Mergen of Topeka and Alvin Witwer of Lenexa are her grandparents.

The groom is a graduate of Fort Hays State University. He is the band teacher and director for Marion schools. Cecilia Barlow Rogers and James Barlow, both of Abilene, are his parents. Kathryn Houlton of Abilene is his grandmother.

Lisa Broberg, friend of the bride, was maid of honor, and Emily Walker, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kara McAtee Newell, friend of the bride, and Christy Mergen, sister-in-law of the bride. Kaylee Mergen, niece of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.

Dennis Barlow, brother of the groom, was best man. Travis Johnson and Jason Kucerik, friends of the groom, and John Molstad, friend of the couple, were groomsmen. Brodyn Barlow, nephew of the groom, was junior groomsman.

Laykin Walker, goddaughter of the bride, was the flower girl, and Luke Walker, friend of the bride, was ring-bearer. Shelly Bogart, sister of the groom, was candle-lighter. Chris Mergen, brother of the bride, and C.J. Johnson, friend of the groom, were ushers.

The couple made their home in Marion.
