El Dorado woman killed in rollover

Staff writer

An 18-year-old El Dorado woman died Friday as a result of a one-car rollover accident on U.S. 56/77, four miles north of the K-150 intersection.

Brittany Graham was a passenger in a southbound 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven by Matthew Pitzer, 19, also of El Dorado.

At 4:20 p.m. Pitzer lost control of the Impala, over-corrected and drove into the west ditch, where the car rolled over, Marion Sheriff’s Department Officer Mike Ottensmeier said.

Marion Ambulance, Marion Fire Department, and Marion rescue were dispatched to the scene at 4:22 p.m.

Graham was trapped in the vehicle, and emergency responders reported no vital signs shortly after arriving at the site of the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pitzer was ejected from the vehicle and was unresponsive for a short period before regaining consciousness. He was transported by Life Team helicopter to Wesley Medical Center. No further information on Pitzer’s condition was available.
