The entire student body of Peabody Elementary School gave a rocking rendition of Christmas songs Monday.
At the school’s annual winter concert, students performed a blend of traditional holiday songs and lively new takes on traditional songs.
The fifth grade band performed four songs, only one of which was a Christmas song. They performed “Rolling Along,” “Hot Cross Buns,” “Go Tell Aunt Rhodie,” and “Jingle Bells.”
Kindergarten and first graders sang “Mary Had a Baby,” “Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” “Five Little Snowmen,” “Away in a Manger,” and a medley of “Jingle Bells / We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
Second through fifth grades rocked 10 songs, which included five well-known Christmas songs and five fresh takes on well-known songs.
They performed “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Jingle Bells Rock,” “Let It Snow,” “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and “Sleigh Ride.”
The audience was delighted with a “Jingle Bell Jukebox,” “Frosty Hand Jive,” “Comin’ Up Christmas Time,” “Jingle Bell Jukebox Bows,” and “Santa’s On His Way” medley.
