These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JUly 11

8:51 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters shut off gas to a wall heater and called a technician after a gas leak was discovered in an apartment in the 300 block of N. Ash St. in Hillsboro.

11:39 a.m. — A patient was taken by Marion ambulance from St. Luke Hospital to Newton Medical Center.

6:52 p.m. — A grass fire at 100th and Timber Rds. was extinguished by Peabody firefighters.

july 12

4:02 a.m. — A woman in her 80s who fell in the 300 block of Grandview St. in Florence was taken to St. Luke by Florence ambulance.

11:45 a.m. — A grass fire that was started by a baler and that threatened some outbuildings at 110th and Limestone Rds. was extinguished by Peabody, Hillsboro, and Florence firefighters.

12:58 p.m. — A man in a back yard in the 400 block of W. B St. in Hillsboro was checked by Hillsboro ambulance, but declined to be taken to a hospital.

1:33 p.m. — A woman in her 70s who fell in the 800 block of Main St. in Florence was assisted by Marion ambulance. A Florence first responder was paged but was unavailable. The woman was not transported.

5:09 p.m. — Peabody firefighters were dispatched for a grass fire, the location of which could not be determined from transmissions.

6:10 p.m. — A woman in her 80s who reportedly crawled to a front door in the 300 block of N. Birch St. in Hillsboro was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance.

11:42 p.m. — A person who fell out of a chair in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave. in Hillsboro was assisted by Hillsboro ambulance. The person was not transported.

thursday

9:21 a.m. — A Parkside Homes resident was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

2:54 p.m. — A woman with breathing difficulties in a car at the courthouse was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

friday

8 a.m. — A patient was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Via Christi – St. Francis in Wichita.

1:13 p.m. — A Lifeteam helicopter called HCH about 16 minutes before landing to request patient information. No additional transmissions were recorded.

2:16 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was coming back from Goessel when it was a directed to Parkside Homes for a man in his 60s who was confused. The ambulance arrived about three minutes after a Hillsboro first responder and took the man to HCH. No transmissions indicated why the ambulance was in Goessel.

4:31 p.m. — A man who fell and hit his head at the jail was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

6:29 p.m. — A patient with a cardiac monitor was taken by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

7:02 p.m. — A man who fell out of a wheelchair at an apartment in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave. in Hillsboro was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.

7:35 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

8:57 p.m. — A 2-year-old boy who hit his head on a table at Cazadores restaurant in Marion was checked out by Florence ambulance. The child was not taken to a hospital.

10:04 p.m. — Marion ambulance reported it was en route to HCH, then reported it was back at the station at 10:08 p.m. Hillsboro ambulance reported it was at HCH at 10:10 p.m. After a series of garbled transmissions, Hillsboro ambulance reported it was back at the station at 10:39 p.m.

saturday

8:11 a.m. — A dispatcher directed Hillsboro ambulance to respond to an apartment at 101 N. Ash St. for a man in his 50s who was dizzy. Hillsboro ambulance reported there were no apartments at that address and continued on to Oakwood Manor in the 400 block of Ash. St., where the patient was located and taken to HCH.

9:39 a.m. — A woman in her 50s who collapsed at a residence on 110th Rd. between Union and Wagonwheel Rds. was taken by Florence ambulance to Newton Medical.

9:58 a.m. — A man in his 40s with pain in his legs and unable to walk was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from the 300 block of N. Ash St. to HCH.

11:19 a.m. — A teenage boy having a seizure at Wendy’s in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

9:13 p.m. — A man with difficulty breathing in the 500 block of W. Grand St. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.

11 p.m. — A patient was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Newton Medical.

sunday

12:55 a.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Wesley Medical Center.

8:28 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance returned to the same Oakwood Manor apartment it visited Saturday for a man with breathing difficulties. The man refused transportation to a hospital.

9:34 a.m. — A woman who fell in a bathroom at Marion Assisted Living was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke. Marion firefighters helped lift.

10:54 a.m. — An unconscious woman with difficulty breathing was taken by Marion ambulance from the 300 block of Cedar St. to St. Luke.

2:36 p.m. — A man at the county jail with unspecified symptoms was examined by Marion ambulance but not transported.

11:14 p.m. — Durham firefighters extinguished a small ditch fire near an electric substation at 290th and Indigo Rds.

monday

9:51 a.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Wesley Medical Center.

10:56 p.m. — Peabody firefighters investigated a carbon monoxide alarm in the 100 block of N. Olive St.
