These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper.

Oct. 17

11:58 a.m. — Marion ambulance responded to Marion Reservoir for a man who was discovered to be unresponsive and possibly not breathing at a Cottonwood Point campground. Upon arrival, the man was determined to be dead.

1:22 p.m. — Marion, Hillsboro, and Peabody firefighters and Marion and Peabody ambulances responded to a house fire on Pawnee Rd. between 140th and 150th Rds. in Aulne. The house was destroyed. No one was injured.

3:03 p.m. — A woman with abdominal pains in the 200 block of N. 4th St. was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke Hospital.

7:30 p.m. — A fire alarm at an apartment in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to have been triggered by a cooking mishap.

oct. 18

6:41 a.m. — Marion firefighters returned to the scene of the previous day’s house fire in Aulne to extinguish a flare-up.

11:57 a.m. — An elderly woman who fell in the 400 block of N. Cedar was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

1:58 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

7:26 p.m. — A woman in her 90s with a possible broken hip resulting from a fall at Parkside Homes was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

8:25 p.m. — A woman in her 70s with a heart condition in the 1500 block of Victory Ln. in Marion was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

8:31 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was paged to assist a person who fell in the 100 block of N. Eisenhower Dr. in Marion, but the call was terminated after a medical alarm company reported the woman had gotten up by herself.

Thursday

7:50 a.m. — Marion firefighters returned to Aulne for a report of smoke coming from the remains of Tuesday’s house fire on Pawnee Rd.

7:53 a.m. — A woman who fell in the 300 block of S. Ash St. in Hillsboro was assisted by Hillsboro ambulance. No one was taken to a hospital.

1:14 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis in Wichita.

2:23 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.

10:07 p.m. — A woman who fell on Chisholm Trail Rd. between 100th and 120th Rds. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

10:26 p.m. — An individual involved in a rollover accident on 30th Rd. two miles east of Old Mill Rd. was examined by Peabody ambulance attendants. No one was transported to a hospital.

friday

6:11 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.

9:56 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to Hillsboro airport for a truck with smoking brakes. No fire was discovered.

11:20 a.m. — A person with blood pressure issues in the 200 block of E. Central St. in Peabody was assisted by Peabody ambulance. No one was taken to a hospital.

12:25 p.m. — A woman who fell in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion was assisted by Marion ambulance. No one was taken to a hospital.

7:08 p.m. — A tractor fire on Limestone Rd. between 340th and 350th Rds. was extinguished by Tampa firefighters.

7:54 p.m. — A woman who fell out of a wheelchair near the football field in Peabody park was assisted by Peabody ambulance. No one was taken to a hospital.

11:43 p.m. — A woman who was reported to be “falling from a chair but hasn’t quite fallen yet” in 1500 E. Main St. in Marion was assisted by Marion ambulance. No one was taken to a hospital.

No calls were recorded.

sunday

10:43 a.m. — A woman in her 70s who fell and injured a knee at Goessel Mennonite Church was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

monday

9:28 a.m. — Marion firefighters radioed dispatchers that they were going to Aulne to “put out some smoldering stuff.” It was not stated whether they were returning to the location of the house fire of Pawnee Rd. on Oct. 17.

5:44 p.m. — Lincolnville firefighters and first responders and Marion ambulance were dispatched to 240th Rd. and US-77 for a vehicle in a ditch that appeared to have been in an accident. A transmission from a Marion firefighter questioning if Marion rescue should be dispatched was followed by another Marion firefighter instructing the dispatcher to call out the Marion rescue unit because this was a vehicle accident. At 5:51 p.m., while dispatching the rescue unit, the dispatcher updated the location of the accident as being four miles east of US-77 on 240th Rd. At 5:53 p.m., all responding units were advised to disregard after an officer at the scene reported that there was no one in the car and it appeared to have been in the ditch for some time.

6:45 p.m. — Dispatchers received a call from a driver reporting his vehicle had been struck by another vehicle on US-56 east of Diamond Rd., and that the other vehicle had left the scene. The caller reported he did not believe he was injured. Hillsboro firefighters, rescue, and ambulance were dispatched. It was reported the second vehicle had returned to the scene. Hillsboro emergency responders were clear of the scene by 7:12 p.m. No one was transported to a hospital.
