These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper.
Nov. 21
9:41 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to an unattended death in the 400 block of N. Ash St.
3:01 p.m. — A car struck a deer on US-77 about four miles south of the US-56/US-77/K-150 roundabout, causing its airbags to deploy. Marion ambulance and firefighters responded, but no injuries were reported and no one was taken to a hospital.
6:53 p.m. — A pasture fire at 80th and Xavier Rds. was extinguished by Florence firefighters.
nov. 22
10:13 a.m. — A patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis in Wichita.
thursday
5:17 a.m. — Marion firefighters responded to St. Luke Hospital for a fire alarm. No smoke or fire was discovered and the alarm was reset.
8:40 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita.
10:50 a.m. — A gas meter that was struck by a vehicle and was leaking in an alley in the 300 block of S. Main St. was shut off by Hillsboro firefighters.
7:32 p.m. — Peabody ambulance was dispatched, but location and patient information could not be determined due to garbled radio transmissions. An individual was taken to Newton Medical Center.
friday
2:41 a.m. — A man in his 90s who fell and injured a wrist in the 700 block of E. Marion St. in Goessel was assisted by Goessel first responders. Hillsboro ambulance was en route but was canceled.
8:01 a.m. — A resident at Salem Homes was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.
2:05 p.m. — A woman in her 90s with a fractured hip at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.
6:02 p.m. — Tampa ambulance and Lincolnville first responders were dispatched for a woman with stomach pain and vomiting on Sunflower Rd. between 330th and 340th Rds. The woman was apparently taken to a hospital, although the specific hospital could not be determined from radio transmissions.
8:58 p.m. — A lengthy search ensued after Florence ambulance and firefighters did not find a smoking vehicle reported to be two miles north of Florence on US-77. Emergency responders, sheriff’s deputies, and Peabody police checked US-77 from Burns north to 270th Rd, and portions of US-56 near Marion, K-150, and US-50 between Peabody and Florence, but did not find a disabled vehicle.
10:40 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.
saturday
1:06 a.m. — Lost Springs fire was paged for a fire on 350th Rd. between Upland and Vista Rds. When only one firefighter responded, Lincolnville firefighters also were dispatched. The fire was reported extinguished at 1:48 a.m.
7:59 p.m. — A cooking incident triggered a fire alarm at a Tabor College dormitory. Hillsboro firefighters reset the alarm panel.
sunday
1:09 a.m. — An individual with a blood sugar issue in the 400 block of S. Thorp St. was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke. Marion firefighters assisted.
3:18 a.m. — Marion ambulance personnel reported they were en route to Via Christi – St. Francis. No initial page indicating a reason for the call was recorded.
11:52 a.m. — Marion firefighters responded to a tree fire in the area of 250th and Zebulon Rds.
7:30 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Salina Regional Hospital.
9:15 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.
