Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

april 17

11:16 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hospital was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital in Wichita by Marion ambulance.

12:09 p.m. — A woman who felt ill was taken from the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance.

12:59 p.m. — A metal shed fire on Nighthawk Rd. between 190th Rd. and US-56 was extinguished by Hillsboro firefighters, with assistance from Marion. Peabody firefighters were en route, but their response was terminated when the fire was determined to be out.

2:06 p.m. — A fire in a ditch near Jade and 270th Rds. was extinguished by Durham firefighters.

3:13 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis by Marion ambulance.

4:05 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to a grass fire on 230th Rd. between Diamond and Eagle Rds. At 4:35 p.m., Durham firefighters were dispatched to assist. The fire was reported out at 8:56 p.m.

4:46 p.m. — A woman who felt ill at Parkside Homes was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:16 pm. — Goessel firefighters responded to multiple outbuildings on fire on Cimarron Rd. between 27th and 28th Aves. in McPherson County. Firefighters reported clearing the scene at 9:17 p.m.

6:26 p.m. — An individual in the 500 block of N. Vine St. in Peabody, described by an officer on scene as “ETOH,” a term commonly associated with alcohol, was taken to St. Luke by Peabody ambulance. Marion ambulance assisted.

10:34 p.m. — Marion firefighters responded to a grass fire on Old Mill Rd. between 140th and 150th Rds. All units were reported back at the station at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday.

11:50 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis by Marion ambulance.

april 18

1:16 a.m. — A controlled burn that was out of control and burning onto a neighboring property on Goldenrod Rd. between 180th and 190th Rds. was extinguished by Hillsboro firefighters.

1:57 p.m. — Smoke was reported near a lagoon at Eastshore at Marion Reservoir. Marion firefighters extinguished a small grass fire.

3:04 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken back to a residence on Upland Rd. between Prairie Ln. and Lakeshore Dr. by Marion ambulance. Marion firefighters assisted with lifting.

3:36 p.m. — Burns firefighters reported they were en route to a fire in a stubble field that was encroaching on public hunting ground on 85th Rd. near El Dorado Lake in Butler County.

5:22 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Newton Medical Center by Marion ambulance.

7:09 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Newton Medical Center by Hillsboro ambulance.

thursday

9:54 a.m. — An elderly man who had a seizure 600 block of S. Lincoln St. was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

3:16 p.m. — Durham firefighters responded to 270th and Jade Rds. for a controlled burn that jumped a fence. Both trucks were headed back to the station at 4:07 p.m.

friday

12:16 a.m. — A resident at Westview Manor was taken to Newton Medical Center by Peabody ambulance.

11:05 a.m. — A resident at Westview Manor was taken to Newton Medical Center by Peabody ambulance.

11:21 a.m. — Dispatchers contacted Goessel firefighters about a report of smoke southwest of Goessel. Firefighters drove around the surrounding countryside but found no fire or source for the smoke.

saturday

8:04 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched for a woman in her 50s with a possible allergic reaction to some wine 664 60th. At 8:19 p.m., ambulance personnel informed dispatchers that they would not be able to reach the residence due to poor road conditions and requested a four-wheel drive vehicle. After apparently contacting someone at the residence, Hillsboro ambulance reported that they would continue on an alternate route, arriving at 8:36 p.m. The woman was examined, but refused to be taken to a hospital.

sunday

3:01 p.m. — A woman in her 50s fell off a back porch in the200 block of N. 4th St., reporting that her head hurt, although she did not know if she hit it. At 3:10 p.m., a Marion ambulance attendant described the woman’s condition as “code red,” indicating life-threatening injury, and requested a Lifeteam helicopter. Marion ambulance took the woman to St. Luke, where she was then airlifted. The destination of the helicopter was not recorded by the newspaper’s system.

3:24 p.m. — Marion rescue and fire and Hillsboro ambulance responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident one mile south of Marion on Sunflower Rd. No one was taken to a hospital, but transmission indicated one individual may have gone to St. Luke in a private vehicle.

monday

1:18 a.m. — Florence ambulance was dispatched to 315 E. 3rd St. for a woman in her 30s who had neck and shoulder pain from a fall taken an hour earlier. An ambulance attendant radioed that there was no such address in Florence and asked for clarification. When a dispatcher reported the woman was at another person’s residence, an ambulance attendant asked if an officer was available, as it was suspected the woman could have been injured in a domestic dispute. The woman was taken to St. Luke by Florence ambulance. A sheriff’s deputy went to the hospital to question her, while a second deputy went to a residence in the 100 block of W. 3rd St. to contact “the male half” of the suspected dispute.

10:43 a.m. — A man who was not breathing in the 100 block of S. Date St. was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Hillsboro firefighters and Marion ambulance assisted.

2:46 p.m. — Dispatchers reported that individuals in a red Ford Mustang and a cream-colored car had thrown items out of the cars that started two small fires on 60th Rd. immediately east of Peabody. Peabody firefighters extinguished the fires while Peabody police initiated an investigation.

3:59 p.m. — A woman complaining of chest pains, perspiration, and dizziness at Westview Manor was taken to Newton Medical Center by Peabody ambulance. Marion ambulance assisted.

4:42 p.m. — A teenage male with head and neck injuries at Heritage Medical Clinic in Peabody was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:10 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken to Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:55 p.m. — Burns firefighters and Florence ambulance were dispatched to an anhydrous ammonia leak at the co-op in Burns. All units were released from the scene within an hour.
