Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

april 24

4:40 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hosptial with a broken arm was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita by Marion ambulance.

6:39 p.m. — A patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital was taken to Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:33 p.m. — A man whose head was bleeding after a fall was taken from the 1500 block of E. Main St. to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. Marion firefighters assisted.

april 25

7:13 a.m. — Marion ambulance reported it was en route to Wesley Medical Center with a patient. The newspaper’s system did not record the initial dispatch.

7:58 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken to Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita by Hillsboro ambulance.

9:32 p.m. — Peabody ambulance responded to Westview Manor for a report of a man in his 60s who fell and hit his head and was bleeding slightly. Upon arrival, ambulance personnel asked dispatchers if staff or someone else placed the initial call. Dispatchers responded that it was the patient who called. Ambulance personnel consulted with nursing staff, who declined to have the patient taken to a hospital.

9:40 a.m. — A burning brush pile on US-50 east of Florence was extinguished by Florence firefighters.

friday

4:31 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Wesley Medical Center by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:52 p.m. — A man with a fever in the 300 block of Meadow Ln. in Goessel was taken to HCH by Marion ambulance.

9:32 p.m. — An infant patient at St. Luke was taken to Wesley Medical Center by Marion ambulance.

10:18 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance and Goessel first responders were dispatched to Chisholm Trail Rd. between 80th and 90th Rds. for a possible death. A Goessel responder confirmed the death on arrival and a coroner was requested.

saturday

12:30 p.m. — An elderly woman with breathing difficulties was taken from the 100 block of S. Birch St. to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

1:03 p.m. — A man in his 50s who fell and reported sharp pain in his back and shoulder300 block of S. Locust St. was taken to Newton Medical Center by Peabody ambulance.

1:16 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to B and Washington Sts. and took an individual to HCH. No transmissions were recorded specifying patient information or nature of the call.

7:10 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken to Via Chrisi — St. Francis Hospital in Wichita by Hillsboro ambulance.

9:25 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was put on standby at Hillsboro police request as officers performed an investigation at a residence. The ambulance was cleared for regular duty at 9:33 p.m.

9:49 p.m — Marion firefighters and ambulance responded to a one-vehicle accident on Upland Rd. near Marion Municipal Airport. No individuals were with the car.

sunday

6:55 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Kansas Heart Hospital by Marion ambulance.

10:04 a.m. — An elderly man with “blood pressure issues” was taken from the 300 block of N. 3rd St. to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

12:35 p.m. — A man who blacked out as he tried to board a motorcycle that fell on him in his garage was taken from the 1200 block of E. Main St. to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

3:34 p.m. — Marion ambulance responded to the 400 block of Walnut St. for an elderly female with low blood sugar. The newspaper’s system did not record a transmission indicating whether the woman was taken to a hospital.

3:49 p.m. — An unfamiliar woman in her 20s who was disoriented and shaky showed up at a residence on Jade Rd. between 120th and 130th Sts. Peabody and Hillsboro ambulances and sheriff’s deputies responded. The woman was taken to Newton Medical Center by Peabody ambulance.

3:51 p.m. — Durham and Tampa firefighters assisted with a McPherson County grass fire west of Roxbury on Smoky Valley Rd.

4:01 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to a grass fire across the road from the city burn site at 210th and Indigo Rds. which had reportedly reignited from an earlier burn.

4:57 p.m. — While still working on the previous fire, a dispatcher contacted Hillsboro firefighters with a report of a burned area near French Creek Cove where hot spots and smoke were observed. Firefighters arrived at French Creek at 5:37 p.m. and spent about 30 minutes investigating the controlled burn site and addressing issues.

5:04 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis by Marion ambulance.

8:19 p.m. — Marion and Florence ambulances responded to the 100 block of W. 7th St. in Florence at the request of law enforcement. Florence ambulance was dismissed at 8:36 p.m., and Marion ambulance took one individual to St. Luke.

10:08 p.m. — An elderly woman who fell in the 300 block of N. 1st St. was assisted by Marion ambulance.

monday

4:23 a.m. — Peabody ambulance provided lifting assistance to an individual in the 300 block of W. Division St.

5:32 a.m. — An individual at mile marker 293 on US-50 who had glass strike his face from a broken windshield was examined by Peabody ambulance personnel. The man was not taken to a hospital.

6:12 p.m. — Goessel firefighters contacted dispatchers to determine if a controlled burn had been conducted on 90th Rd. between Indigo and Holly Rds., as a firefighter had spotted some smoke in a burned area at that location. After determining the location was active, Goessel requested Peabody also be dispatched, as it was in their district.

9:38 p.m. — A man in his 60s who fell and was complaining of back and rib pain at Westview Manor was taken to Newton Medical Center by Peabody ambulance.
