Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JULY 28

6:20 a.m. — A 91-year-old woman who thought she was having a heart attack in the 100 block of S. Freeborn St., Marion, was reported to be in a potentially life-threatening situation but declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

9:27 a.m. — A patient at Salem Homes, Hillsboro, was transferred on physician’s orders to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

3:34 p.m. — A medical alarm company’s report of a resident needing unspecified assistance in the 200 block of W. B St., Hillsboro, was assigned to Hillsboro ambulance, which did not transport anyone to a hospital.

JULY 29

2:35 a.m. — A 56-year-old woman who reportedly had tried to gain entry to Marion Assisted Living Center and was found by a sheriff’s deputy two blocks away at county fuel pumps was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke Hospital for treatment of shortness of breath.

4:45 a.m. — The same woman, described as incoherent, again was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance, this time from the 100 block of Washington St.

5:10 a.m. — A 58-year-old woman with a cardiac monitor and receiving oxygen was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

5:36 a.m. — A 99-year-old woman who fell at Bethesda Home, Goessel, was taken to Newton Medical Center by Peabody ambulance. Goessel first responders did not answer a page.

8:37 a.m. — An errant text message to attendants indicated an ambulance was needed on Vista Rd., but no radio dispatch was heard, and no ambulance apparently was needed.

3:24 p.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance.

11:08 p.m. — A 38-year-old man who had fallen and injured his ankles near Pawnee and 100th Rds. was taken to Newton Med by Peabody ambulance.

THURSDAY

3:04 p.m. — A 86-year-old woman who fell from a chair and may have broken her hip was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH from the 300 block of N. Birch St., Hillsboro.

5:14 p.m. — What presumably was the same patient was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Newton Med.

FRIDAY

3:15 a.m. — A 57-year-old woman was transferred from HCH to Kansas Heart by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:21 a.m. — An uninjured man in the 600 block of W. 5th St., Peabody, was helped out of bed by Peabody ambulance attendants. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

7:14 a.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Marion ambulance.

1:06 p.m. — Marion firefighters were paged for what turned out to be a false water-flow alarm at St. Luke Hospital and Living Center, Marion,

8:41 p.m. — A 61-year-old woman with leg pain was taken from the 1500 block of Victory Lane, Marion, to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

SATURDAY

12:47 a.m. — An HCH patient, possibly the one who just arrived from Marion, was transferred to Wesley by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:38 a.m. — A Peabody Health and Rehab patient with a low blood oxygen level was transferred on physician’s orders to Newton Med by Peabody ambulance.

11:26 a.m. — An 89-year-old woman who fell out of bed in the 200 block of N. Cedar St., Marion, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

8:55 p.m. — A 61-year-old man who was dizzy and suffering abdominal pain was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita, from a home on 190th Rd. between Jade and Kanza Rds.

SUNDAY

11:28 a.m. — A patient with a fractured back was transferred from St. Luke to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.

4:53 p.m. — A man in his 60s who fell in the 1500 block of Victory Lane in Marion, hit a broom, and was bleeding from his abdomen declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

8:45 p.m. — An 86-year-old woman who fell in the 100 block of N. Adams St. in Hillsboro and suffered a severe nosebleed was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

MONDAY

6:31 a.m. — A driver involved in a one-vehicle accident at 70th and Falcon Rds. declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance. Goessel firefighters and first responders also were dispatched to the accident. Hillsboro rescue squad was initially dispatched by told to disregard the call.

7:26 a.m. — Marion and Hillsboro ambulance, the county ambulance director, a lone EMT in Tampa ambulance, and Lincolnville firefighters were dispatched to a farmhouse near 300th and Pawnee Rds. in an apparently unsuccessful attempt to assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation being performed on an elderly man.

11:14 p.m. — An 82-year-old man with cardiac problems was transferred from HCH to Dole Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wichita.
