Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

AUG. 31

9:52 a.m. — A 77-year-old man with a 104.9 fever at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro, was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Hillsboro ambulance.

11:21 a.m. — A 68-year-old woman who fainted while sitting at Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:29 p.m. — An 81-year-old woman was transferred from St. Luke to Susan B. Allen Hospital, El Dorado, by Marion ambulance.

SEPT. 1

1:36 p.m. — A relative found a man dead, apparently of natural causes, at a residence in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion. Baker Funeral Home, Peabody, was called to remove the body but, according to dispatchers, declined. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion, was called instead.

1:47 p.m. — Marion firefighters cleaned up a 3½ gallon gasoline spill at the Ampride station in Marion.

4:45 p.m. — An 84-year-old woman feeling faint at Parkside was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

THURSDAY

9:09 a.m. — His fever returning, the 77-year-old who was taken to St. Luke on Monday was taken there again. Hillsboro ambulance took him from Parkside.

2:59 p.m. — A 83-year-old woman who broke a bone in a fall at Parkside a day earlier was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

6:26 p.m. — A patient checked while Hillsboro ambulance was standing by during a football game declined to be taken to a hospital.

8:14 p.m. — A 73-year-old woman who told an alarm company she was unable to get out of her chair at a farmhouse near 110th and Indigo Rds. was helped by her daughter before Hillsboro ambulance arrived.

9:59 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transferred a patient back to Parkside from Newton Med.

11:58 p.m. — A 30-year-old man who vomited and was having trouble breathing, possibly as a result of COVID-19, was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH from the 200 block of E. D St. in Hillsboro.

FRIDAY

12:32 p.m. — An 87-year-old man short of breath and lethargic was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH from the 300 block of S. Kennedy St. in Hillsboro.

12:39 p.m. — An 80-year-old woman who fell at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to Newton Med by Peabody ambulance. Marion ambulance briefly was dispatched as well but was replaced by a shift supervisor who diverted from the Hillsboro call.

3:34 p.m. — A 93-year-old woman weak after not eating for several days was taken by Tampa ambulance from a farmhouse east of Centre High School to Herington Hospital. Lincolnville first responders were paged but did not answer.

5:32 p.m. — An 88-year-old woman who fell from a chair and injured her eye several hours earlier at Salem Home in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance after she became what dispatchers described as combative and confused.

11:43 p.m. — A 45-year-old woman found unconscious in a house in the 100 block of W. 4th St. in Florence was taken to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, by Marion ambulance, which was diverted there by Newton Med. Florence first responders were paged but did not answer.

SATURDAY

10:57 a.m. — A 67-year-old woman weak and dizzy after increasing her blood pressure medication was taken by Peabody ambulance from the 700 block of N. Elm St. in Peabody to Newton Med.

5:53 p.m. — An 86-year-old woman who may have suffered a stroke at Parkside was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance, which was diverted there by Newton Med.

6:06 p.m. — An agitated and delusional 30-year-old man who reportedly mixed alcohol and attention-deficit medication in the 600 block of S. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. Hillsboro police also responded to the call.

SUNDAY

2:48 p.m. — A 29-year-old patient was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Newton Med.

5 p.m. — Marion ambulance briefly stood by but was not needed for a domestic dispute in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion.

7:54 p.m. — Florence firefighters extinguished illegal burning in the 800 block of Main St. in Florence and warned a disgruntled resident not to reignite the material.

8:03 p.m. — What was reported as an explosion and flames near 140th and Meridian Rds. was determined by Goessel firefighters to be a bonfire that posed no problems.

MONDAY

2:13 a.m. — Marion ambulance checked for injuries among people involved in a domestic dispute in the 200 block of Kansas St. in Lincolnville. One victim reportedly was choked and locked in a room, but details about whether anyone was taken to a hospital were not included in newspaper recordings of emergency transmissions.

8:54 a.m. — A patient declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. Details of the call were not recorded by the newspaper’s monitoring equipment.

11:21 a.m. — A 90-year-old woman having trouble breathing at Parkside’s assisted living center declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

2:51 p.m. — A female COVID-19 patient with breathing problems was taken from Peabody Health and Rehab to Newton Med by Peabody ambulance.

7:51 p.m. — The COVID-19 patient was returned from Newton Med to Peabody Health and Rehab.
