AUG. 15
10:49 a.m. — A partially paralyzed 41-year-old woman who fell and was stuck in furniture at a residence in the 900 block of N. Vine St. in Peabody was helped up by Peabody ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.
AUG. 16
11:59 a.m. — A 74-year-old woman who fell in an alley behind Hillsboro Et Cetera Shop was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
8:27 p.m. — An 83-year-old woman who fell on her face at a farmhouse near 100th and Eagle Rds. was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
THURSDAY
1:12 a.m. — An attic fire at a house in the 200 block of Kansas St. in Lincolnville was battled for 2½ hours by Lincolnville, Lost Springs, Marion, and Tampa firefighters. Marion ambulance also was dispatched.
1:14 a.m. — An 81-year-old woman who fell at a residence in the700 block of N. Peabody St. in Peabody was helped up by a Peabody ambulance attendant. Hillsboro ambulance, which also was dispatched, was told to stand down.
8:07 a.m. — At a police officer’s request, a person who fell at Hillsboro Elementary School and hurt a knee was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
8:38 a.m. — A 76-year-old man suspected of having a heart attack at a home in the 700 block of E. Weldon St. in Marion was taken by Marion ambulance on an emergency basis to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance was diverted there from its original destination, NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center. The ambulance returned to Marion at 12:03 p.m.
10:02 p.m. — A 68-year-old woman complaining of dehydration and leg cramps at a farmhouse at K-15 and 300th Rd. declined to be taken to a hospital by Tampa ambulance.
11:33 p.m. — At a sheriff deputy’s request, an 85-year-old woman who recently battled COVID-19 and exhibited stroke-like symptoms before activating a medical alarm at a Bethesda Homes duplex in the 400 block of E. Marion St. in Goessel was checked by Goessel first responders and taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 1:24 a.m.
FRIDAY
3:56 p.m. — A slow-moving, quarter-mile-long corn field fire started by a mower near 50th and Nighthawk Rds. was extinguished in less than an hour by Peabody firefighters.
11:18 p.m. — A possibly intoxicated 66-year-old man with chest pains and trouble breathing at Oakwood Manor Apartments in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Hillsboro police also were dispatched.
SATURDAY
1:41 p.m. — Fire in a tree near Upland Rd. and Lake Shore Dr. at Marion County Lake was extinguished within an hour by Marion firefighters.
2:41 p.m. — An unresponsive 80-year-old woman, possibly suffering from overheating at a home near 190th and Jade Rds., was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Marion ambulance initially was dispatched as well but later was told to stand down.
3:01 p.m. — A diabetic 85-year-old woman suffering from overheating at Town and County Restaurant in Florence was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Marion ambulance. Florence first responders were paged but did not answer.
4:13 p.m. — A 36-year-old woman suffering severe back pain in the 800 block of W. Grand Ave. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Hillsboro firefighters helped lift the patient.
6:21 p.m. — An 80-year-old woman with cardiac issues was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 9:51 p.m.
SUNDAY
1:09 a.m. — Marion ambulance responded to a call that was garbled on the newspaper’s backup scanner, continuing to be pressed into duty because of the police seizure Aug. 11 of other newspaper equipment. A patient was taken to Newman Regional Health in Emporia. The ambulance returned to Marion at 3:39 p.m.
7:10 a.m. — A 79-year-old man who fell out of bed at a farmhouse near 90th and Falcon Rds. was helped up by Hillsboro ambulance attendants. He declined to be taken to a hospital. Goessel first responders were paged but did not answer.
11:05 a.m. — An 86-year-old woman who fell the night before while taking a shower at a home in the 300 block of N. Franklin Ave. in Burns was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance. Burns first responders were paged but did not answer. The ambulance returned to Marion at 1:33 p.m.
11:14 a.m. — An unconscious 85-year-old man at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro was transferred to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
11:44 a.m. — Marion firefighters spent half an hour applying more water to a tree that continued to smolder near Upland Rd. and Lake Shore Dr. at Marion County Lake.
3:43 p.m. — An HCH patient was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance to NMC Health. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 5:23 p.m.
9:31 p.m. — A woman struck by a man during a fight and left lying on the ground at Casey’s General Store in Marion was taken by Marion ambulance along with what may have been a second victim to St. Luke.
9:54 p.m. — A 50-year-old woman with cardiac issues was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 12:43 a.m.
MONDAY
3:56 p.m. — Marion ambulance was dispatched after a domestic dispute, apparently over child custody, in the 100 block of S. Nickerson Ave. A man reportedly was punched in the face, and another person reportedly was bitten. The man was taken to St. Luke.
