Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

NOV. 7

2:56 p.m. — An 86-year-old man who fell at a residence in the 300 block of N. Vine St. in Peabody declined to be taken to a hospital by Peabody ambulance.

6:31 p.m. — An 83-year-old man in the 300 block of S. Grant St. in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. Dispatchers used code words associated with COVID-19.

NOV. 8

10:02 a.m. — A 9-year-old boy who fell and may have broken a leg or suffered a concussion at Marion Elementary School was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Marion ambulance.

11:26 a.m. — An unresponsive 87-year-old woman found by a meal delivery driver at a home in the 700 block of Nickerson St. could not be revived by Marion ambulance attendants.

1:33 p.m. — The boy injured at Marion Elementary was transferred by Marion ambulance to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

2:42 p.m. — A 57-year-old woman feeling ill at a home in the 200 block of Kansas St. in Lincolnville was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance. A Lincolnville first responder also answered the call.

4:07 p.m. — A 75-year-old man at Indian Guide Terrace apartments in Peabody was helped up by a Peabody ambulance attendant and Peabody firefighters. He declined to be taken to a hospital. Hillsboro ambulance also was dispatched, but the call was canceled before the ambulance arrived.

5:14 p.m. — A report of a strong natural-gas odor led to evacuation of The Hub in Peabody; however, Peabody firefighters could find no odor or problems.

5:40 p.m. — Tampa ambulance was asked on behalf of sheriff’s deputies to stand by at 360th and Remington Rds. to evaluate an emotionally disturbed, but the call was canceled 50 minutes later.

8:18 p.m. — An 85-year-old man experiencing weakness at a residence in the 300 block of N. Birch St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

THURSDAY

9:37 a.m. — An unresponsive woman receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation at Parkside Homes assisted living could not be revived by Hillsboro ambulance attendants. Marion ambulance also responded.

FRIDAY

9:10 a.m. — A smoking combine that earlier caught fire in a field east of US-56/77 off 230th Rd. was checked by Marion firefighters.

2:02 p.m. — A 58-year-old woman who fell at Peabody-Burns Elementary School was taken to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center, by Hillsboro ambulance. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 4:10 p.m. Peabody ambulance was out of service at the time.

10:55 p.m. — A 79-year-old man was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley to see a cancer specialist. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 1:33 a.m.

SATURDAY

9:38 p.m. — An 82-year-old man with a fractured hip was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to NMC Health. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 11:34 p.m.

SUNDAY

1:57 a.m. — An 8-month-old girl with cardiac and respiratory failure was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 4:14 a.m.

1:30 p.m. — An 83-year-old woman who fell and cut her head outside Pizza Hut in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

4:24 p.m. — Four people involved in a two-vehicle accident at US-77 and Broadway in Burns declined to be taken to a hospital by ambulances, one of them stating that she preferred to go by private vehicle. Burns firefighters and first responders, Florence rescue squad members, and Marion ambulance were dispatched. Hillsboro ambulance briefly responded as well.

MONDAY

12:37 p.m. — A 93-year-old woman feeling ill at Parkside Homes was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

1:30 p.m. — A 72-year-old man who fell out of a chair at a farmhouse near 210th and Remington Rds. declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

2:16 p.m. — A driver drifting in and out of consciousness after his vehicle rolled onto its top in a ditch along K-15 north of 340th Rd. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH then transferred by a helicopter to a trauma center. A Tampa ambulance attendant and Tampa firefighters also were dispatched.

5:41 p.m. — An 83-year-old woman suspected of suffering a stroke at a residence in Canada was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance. The ambulance returned to Marion at 8:16 p.m. Hillsboro ambulance also responded to the call.

8:17 p.m. — A 68-year-old man with newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 10:50 p.m.

11:42 p.m. — A 16-month-old girl with a 104-degree fever at a residence in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St. in Marion was checked by Marion ambulance attendants but not taken by them to a hospital.
