Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

FEB. 6

3:24 a.m. — A 19-year-old woman who reportedly overdosed was transferred by Marion ambulance from Hillsboro Community Hospital to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center. The ambulance returned to Marion at 5:55 a.m.

1:32 p.m. — A patient at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, was transferred back to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 4:14 p.m.

5:21 p.m. — A 91-year-old man with abdominal pain at a farmhouse on Bluestem Rd. between 160th Rd. and US-50 was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

FEB. 7

1:18 a.m. — A 40-year-old man with a bleeding head injury at Container Services in Hillsboro was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:30 p.m. — A patient who showed up at the ambulance station in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital.

7:22 p.m. — A 25-year-old woman whose wrist was injured when airbags deployed after her vehicle hit a deer on US-77 south of 170th Rd. was checked by Marion ambulance attendants. She was not taken to a hospital, but the ambulance went to the sheriff’s office, apparently to help deputies deal with children also involved in the accident.

THURSDAY

7:05 p.m. — A reportedly psychotic patient who allegedly threatened employees and injured himself at Westview Manor in Peabody was treated by Peabody and Hillsboro ambulance attendants but not taken to a hospital. Peabody police also responded to the call.

FRIDAY

2:36 a.m. — A 76-year-old man with chest pain at a home in the 100 block of S. Summit St. in Goessel was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. Goessel first responders were paged but did not answer. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 4:36 a.m.

2:26 p.m. — A 94-year-old man with chest pain at a home in the 300 block of E. Marion St. in Goessel declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance. Goessel first responders were paged but did not answer.

3:31 p.m. — Marion ambulance was sent to the county jail for undisclosed reasons and reported that whoever was examined declined to be taken to a hospital.

4:20 p.m. — One of two men trapped beneath large round hay bales at the Peabody burn pit south of Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks on Olive St. in Peabody was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to the city football field and transferred to an EagleMed helicopter to be airlifted to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Marion ambulance took the other man to NMC Health. Peabody firefighters also were dispatched. The ambulances returned to Hillsboro at 6:07 p.m. and to Marion at 6:50 p.m.

5:28 p.m. — With Hillsboro ambulance still in Peabody, Tampa ambulance was dispatched to transfer a confused, unresponsive 79-year-old woman with altered mental state from Parkside Homes to HCH. Hillsboro first responders also were dispatched.

SATURDAY

5:13 a.m. — A 76-year-old man who fell and hurt his hip at a home in the 600 block of W. 3rd St. in Peabody was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance, which returned to Hillsboro at 7:16 a.m.

6:22 a.m. — An 88-year-old woman who fell at a home near US-50 and Mustang Rd. was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance, which returned to Marion at 9:15 a.m.

SUNDAY

No dispatches.

MONDAY

3:15 p.m. — Without being dispatched, Hillsboro ambulance attendants announced that they would be going to a rented home in the 400 block of N. Maple St. in Peabody for unspecified “patient assistance.” The patient declined to be taken to a hospital.

6:30 p.m. — A 39-year-old woman with chest and back pain and trouble breathing at a house in the 200 block of E. 2nd St. in Peabody declined to be taken to a hospital by Peabody or Hillsboro ambulances, both of which were dispatched.
