Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:
AUG. 26
12:45 a.m. — An 83-year-old woman with a locked jaw at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center, by Hillsboro ambulance.
4:10 a.m. — An 84-year-old woman needing a surgical consultation was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
12:03 p.m. — A 68-year-old woman with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea at Homestead Senior Residences, Marion, was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Marion ambulance.
2:02 p.m. — An 84-year-old woman who fell off a ladder and hurt her head in an alley in the 200 block of S. Ash St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
AUG. 27
9:20 a.m. — A ceiling fan that had been smoking at a home in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. was checked by Hillsboro firefighters.
10:37 a.m. — Marion firefighters, police, and county emergency managers checked neighboring homes and shut off natural gas service after a line was ruptured near Hudson and Cedar Sts. in Marion. Atmos Energy workers went house to house to relight pilot lights after the break was repaired.
5:26 p.m. — An 80-year-old man who nearly passed out at Aulne Bible Church declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded but was told he wouldn’t be needed.
THURSDAY
1:30 a.m. — A 71-year-old woman who fell at a home in the 100 block of N. B St. in Ramona declined to be taken to a hospital by Tampa ambulance.
11:34 a.m. — A dizzy, shaking, and vomiting 39-year-old woman with high blood sugar at Oakwood Manor apartments in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
7 p.m. — Marion ambulance stood by until 7:54 p.m. during a football game at Warrior Stadium.
FRIDAY
1:25 a.m. — A 1-year-old experiencing respiratory distress was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley. The call originally went to Marion ambulance, but Hillsboro ambulance attendants opted to respond instead.
1:21 p.m. — A 52-year-old man receiving intravenous antibiotics was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita
5:27 p.m. — Tampa ambulance stood by until 7:55 p.m. at a football game at Centre schools.
5:40 p.m. — After checking several other boats, Hillsboro firefighters located a boat stranded on Marion Reservoir and used a rescue boat to tow it to Cottonwood Point.
SATURDAY
3:47 a.m. — An 82-year-old with chest pains at Bethesda Home in Goessel was taken to Wesley by Hillsboro ambulance. Goessel first responders were paged but didn’t answer.
5:04 p.m. — A pregnant 18-year-old having multiple seizures in the 200 block of W. 2nd St. in Peabody was taken to Wesley by Hillsboro ambulance.
SUNDAY
7:26 a.m. — A nauseated 54-year-old woman vomiting at a home in the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Florence was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.
9:45 a.m. — A 76-year-old woman having trouble breathing at Parkside Homes duplexes in Hillsboro was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance.
12:17 p.m. — A dog stranded in a truck stuck in flooding along 90th Rd. near Meridian Rd. was rescued by Moundridge and Goessel firefighters.
2:27 p.m. — A woman with vomiting and diarrhea at a farmhouse near US-77 and 140th Rd. was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance.
MONDAY
1:52 a.m. — A woman who may have broken her leg in a fall at a house near 59th and Newell Rds. south of Peabody was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance. A Peabody firefighter was called to help lift the patient.
1:53 a.m. — A 69-year-old man, still on the ground bleeding after falling on his face at Salem Home in Hillsboro, was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance.
2:23 a.m. — Tampa ambulance was ordered to stand by in Hillsboro until 3:47 a.m. in case of additional calls.
11:17 a.m. — A 70-year-old man having trouble breathing at Salem Home in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
2:06 p.m. — A 58-year-old man with sepsis was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health.
