MARCH 17
1:10 a.m. — A 52-year-old man who lost consciousness with a bowel obstruction at a home in the 700 block of W. A St. in Hillsboro was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
1:37 a.m. — A 79-year-old man with trouble breathing at St. Luke Hospital in Marion was transferred by Marion ambulance to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
5:07 a.m. — Immediately upon returning from Wichita, Marion ambulance transferred a second, undescribed patient from St. Luke to Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita.
5:41 a.m. — A 64-year-old woman slurring her words at a home in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
7:41 a.m. — What appeared to be the patient taken to HCH at 1:10 a.m. was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance to Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa Hospital, Wichita.
8:35 a.m. — A 63-year-old woman uncontrollably shaking at a home in the 700 block of E. Main St. in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.
11:11 a.m. — A 40-year-old woman receiving intravenous medication was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.
12:04 p.m. — An EagleMed helicopter transferred a patient from HCH to St. Joseph.
6:06 p.m. — A 77-year-old man with cardiac injury was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health, Newton.
MARCH 18
2:53 a.m. — A 37-year-old woman who suffered seizures at a home in the 100 block of S. Jefferson St. in Hillsboro was taken to Wesley by Hillsboro ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded.
7 a.m. — A 16-month-old girl bit in the face by a family dog in the 300 block of N. E St. in Ramona was taken to St. Luke by Tampa ambulance.
7:53 a.m. — A medical alert from the 500 block of S. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro was determined by Hillsboro ambulance attendants to have been accidentally activated.
11:10 a.m. — A 35-year-old man seizing at B and Jefferson Sts. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
1:24 p.m. — An 81-year-old woman who suffered a stroke was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to St. Teresa.
1:25 p.m. — A small grass fire west of Alamo Rd. just south of Goessel was mostly out before Goessel firefighters arrived and soaked a nearby wood pile.
1:35 p.m. — Lost Springs and Lincolnville firefighters helped Herington firefighters extinguish a grass fire at US-56/77 and 200 Ave. in Dickinson County.
3:38 p.m. — Marion firefighters conducted a controlled burn until 7:08 p.m. at Marion Country Club.
4:15 p.m. — Goessel firefighters stood by during a controlled burn at K-15 and 110th Rd.
4:41 p.m. — Marion firefighters responded to what alternately was reported as a carbon monoxide alarm and as a gas leak at a home the 900 block of Melvin St. in Marion. The resident asked to be checked by Marion ambulance attendants but declined to be taken to a hospital, opting to go instead by private vehicle.
5:36 p.m. — Fire in a hay bale inside a metal shed near a controlled burn on 190th Rd. between Jade and Kanza Rds. was extinguished by Hillsboro firefighters. Marion and Peabody firefighters also were dispatched but were told they wouldn’t be needed before they arrived. Hillsboro ambulance stood by.
7:25 p.m. — Marion firefighters helped secure valves on three leaking anhydrous ammonia tanks at Cooperative Grain and Supply in Marion. Marion police and the county emergency manager also responded.
9:28 p.m. — A 98-year-old woman with rectal bleeding at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance.
THURSDAY
1:10 a.m. — A 25-year-old man who told his mother he was suffering chest pain and tingling in his lungs at a home in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.
4:25 p.m. — A 47-year-old woman was pronounced dead by Hillsboro ambulance attendants at a home in the 600 block of W. Grand Ave. Hillsboro police were dispatched.
5:37 p.m. — A 94-year-old woman with abdominal pain at Parkside Homes was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
6:17 p.m. — A medical alert issued on behalf of a man with swollen feet at a home in the 300 block of N. Washington St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.
6:44 p.m. — Fire in an unattached garage in the 800 block of Maple St. in Peabody was extinguished within 90 minutes by Peabody, Florence, and Hillsboro firefighters, many of whom had been at a meeting in Hillsboro at the time of the alarm. Marion ambulance stood by in case it was needed.
8:09 a.m. — Immediately upon returning, Marion ambulance transferred an undescribed patient from St. Luke to Kansas Heart Hospital.
FRIDAY
2:44 a.m. — A large, slow-moving grass fire and two burning brush piles south of 280th and Zebulon Rds. were extinguished within an hour and a half by Lincolnville, Lost Springs, and Marion firefighters.
5 p.m. — A controlled burn that grew out of control at 220th and Turkey Creek Rds. was extinguished within 45 minutes by Marion firefighters and a Tampa firefighter who had been in the vicinity. Lincolnville firefighters also were dispatched but were told they wouldn’t be needed before they arrived.
6:15 p.m. — Lincolnville firefighters joined a wildfire task force in Riley County until 12:21 a.m.
SATURDAY
12:06 a.m. — Peabody firefighters helped with a controlled burn for 20 minutes at 10th and Quail Creek Rds.
3:38 a.m. — An 80-year-old woman who fell and may have suffered a stroke at a home in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.
6:36 a.m. — A 70-year-old woman who fell off a toilet at Marion Assisted Living was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.
10:34 a.m. — An 83-year-old woman who fell at a home near 210th Rd. and US-56/77 declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.
11:27 a.m. — An 84-year-old man complaining of abdominal or chest pain at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance. Hillsboro ambulance also responded.
1:14 p.m. — A 10-year-old boy having a seizure at Dollar General in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Marion ambulance also responded, but the call was canceled before the ambulance arrived.
1:21 p.m. — A 51-year-old man with congestive heart failure was transferred by Marion ambulance on an emergency basis from St. Luke to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.
4:20 p.m. — Unauthorized burning of a yard in the 600 block of Wichita Ave. in Lincolnville was extinguished within 15 minutes by Lincolnville firefighters. Lost Springs, Marion, and Tampa firefighters and Marion ambulance also were dispatched but were told they would not be needed before they arrived.
4:59 p.m. — The 83-year-old woman who fell at 10:34 a.m. fell again, hurt her neck, and was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.
6:19 p.m. — Fire in a hedge row on 250th Rd. east of US-56/77 was extinguished within an hour by Lincolnville, Marion, and Lost Springs firefighters. Tampa firefighters and the county emergency manager also were dispatched but were told they weren’t needed before they arrived. Marion ambulance stood by in case it was needed.
8:19 p.m. — An 83-year-old woman with a subdural hematoma was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.
SUNDAY
4:50 a.m. — A woman who fell and hit her head at Parkside Homes was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
10:13 a.m. — A 63-year-old woman with weakness in her legs was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to St. Francis.
12:19 p.m. — Goessel, Lincolnville, and Peabody firefighters headed to Andover to join a wildfire task force. They returned around 9 p.m.
3:07 p.m. — A 27-year-old man having a seizure at Indian Guide Terrace apartments in Peabody was taken to St. Francis by Hillsboro ambulance.
3:14 p.m. — As a training exercise, Tampa firefighters extinguished a brush fire reported to them off K-15 north of the Dickinson County line.
4:30 p.m. — Burns firefighters were called to a grass fire near El Dorado in Butler County.
5:30 p.m. — Upon returning, Hillsboro ambulance transferred a 40-year-old man with gall bladder problems from HCH to St. Francis.
5:39 p.m. — Smoldering trees near 120th and Indigo Rds. were extinguished within 50 minutes by Hillsboro firefighters.
MONDAY
12:20 a.m. — A fire alarm at Harms Hall on the Tabor College campus was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to have been a false alarm caused by a cooking accident.
10:04 a.m. — A disconnected 911 call and an automated alert that a 98-year-old woman fell at a home in the 300 block of W. Arbor Ct. were determined by Hillsboro ambulance attendants to have been accidentally activated.
7:33 p.m. — A 45-year-old man with pancreatitis was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley.
