Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

AUG. 11

6:21 a.m. — A 61-year-old man with a history of heart issues, unconscious and breathing abnormally at Hillsboro Industries, was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

11:09 a.m. — Marion firefighters and police helped evacuate residents of Homestead Senior Patio Homes and sent them to the Sports and Aquatics Center after city workers trying to install a utility pole ruptured a natural gas line. Marion ambulance attendants helped evacuate an elderly woman who recently had surgery and then were called back to help with another evacuee and to check responders who began suffering headaches. The leak was not stopped until 1:40 p.m., when residents were allowed to return.

12:38 p.m. — An 84-year-old woman with slurred speech, weakness, and sweating at Salem Home was transferred to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

6 p.m. — At the request of law enforcement, Hillsboro ambulance was ordered to stand by at 60th and Pawnee Rds. but then was told it was not needed.

AUG. 12

7:51 a.m. — Before Lost Springs firefighters arrived, two fire alarms at Centre High School were determined to be tests.

11:41 a.m. — A 28-year-old man with abdominal pain was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

2:43 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was sent to Westview Manor in Peabody for a 47-year-old man not feeling well, but the call was canceled by a Westview nurse before the ambulance arrived.

5:04 p.m. — An 80-year-old woman with cardiac issues was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.

5:34 p.m. — A 90-year-old man with back pain in the 700 block of S. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by a backup ambulance based in Hillsboro.

THURSDAY

1:55 p.m. — A 66-year-old man with a blocked artery in his leg was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita.

1:58 p.m. — At the request of law enforcement officers, Goessel firefighters stood by near 29th Ave. and Dakota Rd. in McPherson County for three hours for a potentially suicidal person. Firefighters had trouble communicating by radio because they did not have access to the talk groups McPherson County authorities were using.

2:41 p.m. — Durham and Tampa firefighters helped Roxbury firefighters battle a grass fire for nearly an hour north of 330th and Falcon Rd.

4:06 p.m. — A 77-year-old woman with a fever and trouble breathing at Grand Oaks Apartments in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

4:46 p.m. — A 79-year-old man having trouble breathing a Salem Home in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by a backup ambulance based in Hillsboro.

9:02 p.m. — An exhausted 82-year-old diabetic man with abdominal troubles collapsed across from Hillsboro Hardware and was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

10:34 p.m. — A 45-year-old woman wanting to go to a hospital for a mental health evaluation was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance from a house in the 200 block of W. 6th St. in Florence.

FRIDAY

8:10 a.m. — A backup ambulance based in Hillsboro took at patient from HCH to Newton Airport for undisclosed reasons.

11:28 a.m. — A 68-year-old woman who fell at a home in the 200 block of W. 4th St. in Florence was helped up by Marion ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

2:17 p.m. — A medical alarm on behalf of an 89-year-old woman in the 400 block of S. Freeborn St. in Marion was determined by Marion ambulance attendants to have been accidentally activated.

SATURDAY

5:11 p.m. — A 73-year-old man with cardiac issues was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.

SUNDAY

9:23 a.m. — Ramona and Marion firefighters and Tampa ambulance were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident at 350th and Quail Creek Rds. Before they arrived, Marion firefighters were told they would not be needed. The driver involved declined to be taken to a hospital.

1:26 p.m. — An 80-year-old man was helped up from the ground by Marion ambulance attendants at a home in the 400 block of W. 8th St. in Florence. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

8:16 p.m. — A 63-year-old man bleeding from his head after falling because of low blood pressure at a farmhouse near 210th and Falcon Rds. was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

8:38 p.m. — A 65-year-old woman suffering seizures related to a brain tumor at Homestead Senior Residences in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

11:20 p.m. — An 81-year-old woman was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Kansas Heart.

MONDAY

9:23 a.m. — A LifeStar helicopter transferred an unspecified patient from HCH to a Topeka hospital.

5:08 p.m. — A 58-year-old woman with a spinal infection at a home in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. in Marion was taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Marion ambulance.

10:27 p.m. — A 47-year-old man with cardiac issues was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley.
