SENIOR CENTER:   Emergency meals available

Marion Senior Center

Emergency meals have been provided to meals on wheels customers. The meals also are available for those who eat at the center whenever it is closed.

The Harvest House group ate lunch at the center Nov. 8.

Thanks to Becky Hogue for putting up patriotic decorations on Veterans Day.

Marion High School Singers surprised people at the center on Veterans Day when they walked in wearing their concert clothing. They sang patriotic songs then each singer shook hands with the four veterans in attendance — Keith Allison, Jim Richmond, Jerry Kline, and Leland Albrecht — and presented American flags to the men.

Roger and Sandi Megli and Judy Thompson joined diners Nov. 12. Roger Megli played piano selections before lunch, then talked about funeral planning after lunch. Thompson talked about veterans benefits. The meal was free.

The ONE committee met that afternoon. Mary Rogers is chairman of the group. Senior center site managers gave reports. Department on Aging coordinator Gayla Ratzlaff also attended.

Keith Allison brought birthday treats Nov. 13. As everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to him, a group of his friends walked in with balloons and greetings.

The Thanksgiving meal will be Nov. 27. Reservations are required. Angels Care will give a presentation after lunch.

The center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and open the next day.
