Kristen Dawn Herzet, Marion, and Michael Edward Kirkpatrick, Newton, announced their engagement last week.

Herzet’s parents are Jeff and Dee Herzet, Marion, and Kirkpatrick’s are Duane and Lori Kirkpatrick, rural Marion.

The bride-to-be graduated from Marion High School and attended Bethel College, receiving a nursing degree while participating in track and field. She now works as an oncology nurse at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Also a Marion alumnus, Kirkpatrick attended Kansas State University and Fort Hays State University. Kirkpatrick teaches in the Newton school district.

The couple is plans a wedding for Oct. 10 in Florence.
