EQIP sign-up ends Nov. 16

Nov. 16 is the cutoff date for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program applications in Kansas to be considered for fiscal year 2013 funding.

EQIP provides technical and financial assistance to land owners and operators to install conservation practices on their land. It can be applied to cropland, rangeland, pastures, forestland, and wildlife habitat.

Some practices that can be assisted through EQIP include variable nutrient application, no-till or strip-till, waterways, terraces, livestock water wells, tanks, solar pumps, grass seeding, livestock waste systems, and many others.

All services and designs are free, as are applications. There is no obligation to accept a contract after application, but also no guarantee that a contract will be offered

To get more information about assistance with land, visit the Natural Resources Conservation Service office at 303 Eisenhower St. in Marion or call (620) 382-3737.
