Everett H. Cress, 73, died April 15 at Golden Living Center in Cottonwood Falls. He was born Aug. 28, 1940, in Florence to Jimmie B. and Zatha (Henricks) Cress.
On July 9, 1961, he married Janet K. Whitcomb.
He worked as a cowboy, an oilfield roustabout, and drove a school bus for many years. He served with the Central Kansas Prison Ministries.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Walker Louis Cress. He is survived by his wife, Janet Cress of Cedar Point; five children, Alan of Great Fall, Mont; Shannon Foster of Des Moines, Iowa; Shawna Goodwin of Douglass; Brandon of Pittsburg; and Shealah West of Newton; a sister, Jeanice Miller of Emporia; two brothers, Jimmie Eldon of Emporia and K. Lynn of Rogers, Ark. nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday at Christian Church of Florence and interment was at Griffith Cemetery in Cedar Point.
Memorial funds have been established with Central Kansas Prison Ministry.
