County Fair to start with a dunk

There is something other than humidity in air. The Marion County Fair is here.

The annual parade will kick off at tonight at 6 p.m. The theme will be “Boots and Bling.”

A pedal pull and the swine show will start at 7:30 p.m., and the annual rodeo will begin at 8 p.m.

County commissioners will be in a dunk tank from 7 to 9 p.m. Roger Fleming will be dunked first, followed by Dan Holub, and finally Randy Dallke.

Dunk tank proceeds will help fund the county’s section of a marble state map on the floor of a state visitor’s center in Topeka.

Fair action will pick up again Thursday with the 4-H sheep and meat-type goat show at 8 a.m. A bucket calf show at 5:30 p.m. will be followed by a beef show at 6 p.m. The rodeo will continue at 8.pm.

Dairy goat and cattle show will kick off Friday at 8 a.m. followed by archery shoot at 9 a.m. The 4-H round robin will be at 12:30 p.m., 4-H style revue at 6:30 p.m., 4-H livestock sale and project auction at 6:30 p.m., and truck and tractor pull at 7 p.m.
