FFA competes in career events

Centre FFA members participated in the South Central District Poultry Evaluation and Agronomy career events March 27 in Marion.

First-year member Quinten Bina placed 18th in the poultry Greenhand division. They evaluated live production hens, chicken products, and interior and exterior quality of eggs. They also identified parts of a chicken and took a written exam.

Centre led the agronomy contest. The Greenhand team of Quinten Stuchlik, Tanner Stuchlik, Emily Casey, Kyle Peterson, Alex Remmers, and Mikey Silhan placed fourth as a team. Participants identified plants and seeds, analyzed seeds, graded grain, and took an agronomic calculations quiz.

At Fort Scott Aggie Day Friday, members competed in the livestock evaluation event. They judged eight classes including beef cattle, goats, sheep, and hogs. The team of Dillon Knepp, Jensen Riffel, Kitzmiller, and Tanner Stuchlik placed 18th in the questions division.
