FFA students give speeches at district competition in Buhler
Seven Centre FFA members participated Jan. 16 in different divisions of prepared public speaking at the South Central District speech contest at Buhler.
Each member picked an agriculture-related topic, researched it, wrote the speech, committed it to memory, then presented it to judges.
Dillon Knepp and Cailey Barney participated in the sophomore division. Dillon placed second and Cailey 10th.
Kyle Peterson, Tanner Stuchlik, Mikey Silhan, Quinten Bina, and Emily Casey competed in the freshman division. Kyle made finals and placed 5th individually.
Kyle and Tanner competed in creed speaking. They gave the FFA Creed, presenting it word for word, and answered questions after the presentation.
“It was a very fun day, and they really enjoyed the chance to get to give their speech,” adviser Laura Klenda said.
