Firefighters benefit from farmer’s donation
A Hillsboro farm couple chose the city’s fire department to receive a $2,500 donation from the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program sponsored by the Bayer fund.
Brenda Enns said the department was a worthwhile pick because it benefits not only the community, but has benefited the Ennses, who have been farmers 44 years.
“My husband and I are farmers and we have had to use them,” she said. “In fact, we had to use them just last week. It was just a little combine fire.”
The America’s Farmers Grow Communities program has given more than $33 million to more than 8,000 nonprofit organizations across rural America since the program began 10 years ago.
