Five Warriors medal at Halstead
Nordquist, McLinden win championships

It was a successful meet Friday and Saturday for the Warrior wrestling team at the Halstead Invitational tournament.
Of the nine competitors, five captured medals, including first-place finishes by Charlie Nordquist and Jarret McLinden.
Marion finished in a tie for fifth with Remington out of 22 schools, scoring 106 ½ points.
Nordquist finished the day 4-0 in the 220-pound class, pinning Chase County’s Joseph Stout in 4:00 of the title match.
Heavyweight McLinden was also 4-0 on the day, making short work of Southeast of Saline’s Josiah Moore in 1:09 in the battle for first.
Ethan Darnall took second in the 132-pound division, dropping a 3-0 decision to Circle’s Justin Schrader for first place to complete his day at 3-1.
Calib Mallory captured fifth place in the 138-pound class, going 4-2.
Mallory avenged a first-round 6-4 decision to Cherryvale’s Levi Barron in the fifth-place match with a 7-5 win.
Kyle Horton clinched sixth-place, going 3-3 in the 152-pound class, dropping a 5-3 decision to Circle’s Gunner Coslett.
Other Warriors competing were Luke Lanning (1-2), Todd Palic (2-2), Kolton Brewer (0-2), and Brock Mitchell (1-2).
The Warriors travel Saturday to Eureka.
