Three county teams hope to build on victories Friday at they head into their final regular season games this week.

Marion

The Warriors got back to winning Friday, beating Remington 28-12 at home.

Running back Jameson Looper finished with 188 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Carson Krause had three completions in eight attempts for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Tripp Peterson had 16 yards and one touchdown receiving.

Marion (5-2) will play its last game of the season on the road this Friday against Valley Heights (4-3).

“We don’t know a lot on post-season yet,” coach Shaun Craft said. “I know we will be on the road next week but not sure where.

“KSHSAA is seeding the top four teams coming out of each district, so this game (against Valley Heights) could potentially mean something with the overall records, determining tie breakers.”

Hillsboro

The Trojans dominated Lyons at home Friday night, winning 48-21.

“We had a great win Friday night,” coach Demetrius Cox said. “The team played well. Thank you to our seniors for your leadership and dedication all season. You’ve set a great example, and we’re proud of everything you’ve accomplished.”

Jesiah Gooch finished with 212 yards rushing and five touchdowns.

Zayne Haslett threw for 169 yards and a touchdown as well as rushing for 110 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Brayson Amstutz dominated on defense with six tackles and four assists.

Hillsboro (4-3) will be on the road Friday against Smoky Valley (3-4) for the Trojans’ last game of the regular season.

“We will be playing at home in the first round of the playoff.” Cox said. “The last regular season game against Smoky Valley is not going to have an impact on the outcome on our seeding.”

Peabody-Burns

Peabody-Burns extended its winning streak to five games Friday, beating Chetopa 51-6 on the road.

Quarterback Aiden Hurst finished with two passing touchdowns.

Joesuf Aydelott rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns.

Jameson Miles, Gage Willson, and Ashton Talkington also scored touchdowns.

The Warriors (5-2) will play their last game of the season Friday at home against Altoona-Midway (1-5).

Goessel

Goessel struggled to get its offense moving Friday against high powered Ell Saline.

The Cardinals led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

A highlight for the Bluebirds came in the second quarter. Running back Claudio Flores III broke a tackle at his own 15 yard line and sprinted through the defense. He finally was tackled after a 50-yard gallop.

The Bluebirds were unable to take advantage of good field position, however, and Ell Saline led 36-0 at the half. The game ended 50-0 with 6:36 left to play in the third quarter.

Goessel (1-6) will be at Canton-Galva (2-5) Friday.

Centre

The Cougars were blanked on the road Friday against Lebo, losing 58-0.

Centre (2-5) will be at home Friday against Hartford (0-7) for the Cougars’ last game of the season before playoffs.

“As of now, it looks like we’ll likely travel for the first round,” coach Thieen Antoszyk said. “This last game will determine whether we qualify for playoffs. Friday’s game will definitely play a role in that, so it’s an important one for us.”
