Four homes set for Christmas tour

Staff writer

Four homes and their collections of Christmas décor will be featured in Marion Library’s annual Christmas Home Tours 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5.

Jesse and Becky Howard at 50 Lakeshore Dr. finished remodeling their home and volunteered for the tour to meet people in the community.

“We think it’s a good opportunity for our library as well,” Jesse said.

Next door at 60 Lakeshore Dr., Matt and Jenna Meyerhoff also recently finished remodeling and are taking the opportunity to show their home to people who have been asking about it.

“I’m excited,” Jenna said. “We’ll get to have two trees: one upstairs and one downstairs.”

Christian and Stacey Penderson at 130 S Coble St. have been on library home tours in the past but will be participating this year for the first time after remodeling their home. Stacey will be displaying her antique collection.

“I like to make it look a little more old-fashioned — simple,” she said.

Mike and Amy Smith, who recently moved to 217 Elm St., will be displaying Amy’s collection of 91 Santa figures and 20 nativity scenes.

“We’ve counted because our kids are doing a competition,” Amy said. “It’s a silly little thing with our kids, and whoever’s closest wins a prize. There are the little ornaments that I collect, there’s a picture nativity, there’s a mini nativity…”

The library is selling tickets to all four homes for $5. Visitors also may sample assorted candies and cookies prepared by volunteers before traveling to the homes.
