Four Warrior wrestlers earn all-league honors

Marion High School upperclassmen filled the Mid-Central Activities Association’s first and second-team wrestling lists with two Warrior juniors and two seniors earning honors.

Junior classmates Cody Wildin and Tylor Neil were named to the league’s first team, while seniors Adam Regnier and Levi Anderson were part of the honorable mention squad.

Wildin was an obvious choice after taking second at state, while Neil set a single-season school record with 37 victories.

The league names just one wrestlers in each weight class for the first team unless there is a tie.

Wildin finished his junior season, 32-4, after losing to three-time state champion Colt Rogers of Smith Center in the 135-pound weight class.

He also led the team in takedowns with 52, and three-second near falls with 23.

Neil had only 10 losses to go with his record 37 victories, one of which was at the state tournament.

Wrestling at 145-pounds, Neil was the team-leader in pins (21), reversals (29), and total team points (183).

Regnier was the third Warrior to qualify for state and posted a 28-14 record.

The senior finished second by just one to Neil in both the pin and reversal categories, was second on the team in escapes with 16, and fourth in takedowns with 36.

Anderson finished his final season with seven victories, including three pins.

He recorded 11 reverses, 12 escapes, and 13 takedowns.
