Gallery 101 to feature students' works

News editor

Gallery 101 owner Jan Davis is preparing for her next special show; this time it is a show of works by Marion High School seniors.

“They’ve got some really good stuff,” Davis said. “I’m excited.”

The show will feature seniors Joey Anderson, Josh Brown, Josh Catlin, Whitney Christiansen, Sarah Eurit, Angel Funk, Brianna Hall, Logan Maytem, and Andrea Nordquist. Their works include paintings, drawings, photography, ceramics, and sculptures.

Eurit is in her first year of high school art, despite being a senior, and she is glad she gave it a try. She said she has liked doing a variety of projects during the year, and will display a pencil and charcoal drawing, a cast aluminum sculpture, and a ceramic sculpture at the show.

“I really liked painting and I really liked ceramics,” Eurit said.

The drawing she will display is of a young girl at a piano, a subject that was meaningful to her because of her home life.

“Piano music is something I have always had in my life,” she said.

Eurit said it was great to have Hall and Nordquist as classmates in art because of their experience. Eurit said her favorite piece by one of her classmates is Hall’s painting of a couple kissing in a park.

Eurit hopes to continue painting as a hobby later in life.

The art show will kick off with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday with some of the artists. The show will be at Gallery 101 for two weeks, Davis said.
