Gary Max Bowlin

Gary Max Bowlin, 76, of Peabody Kan., died Dec. 26, 2013, at his home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1937, to Max “Mike” and Verna Penny Bowlin in Wichita, Kan. He was the youngest of four children. The family moved to Denver when Gary was 8 years old, but he spent many summers with his Grandma Penny and Uncle John, and helped them farm, along with his brothers, in Overbrook, Kan.

For several years, Gary sold medical equipment and chemicals to several hospitals, doctors, and colleges. He left selling and started up a printing shop. Then in 1985, he and his wife, Lou Ann, and daughter, Emily, moved from Colorado to Peabody to be closer to his own father.

They bought a farm southeast of town. Gary brought his print shop from Colorado and began Homestead Printing. For four years, he also owned and operated The Gazette Bulletin. He was a man of strong faith, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

His father, mother and one brother, Gene, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Lou Ann of the home; his daughters, Linda Allis and husband Peter of Highlands Ranch, Colo; Deanna Schoeninger and husband John of Fort Collins, Colo; Shella Carroll and husband John of Cincinnati, Ohio; and daughter, Emily of the home; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Jones and husband Walt of Cordell, Okla; and brother, Howard and wife Dorothy of Denver, Colo.

Funeral arrangements have been made by Baker Funeral Home. Service will be today at 1 p.m. at Peabody Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Make a Wish Foundation in care of Baker Funeral Home.
