Gerald Gene Brinkman

On July 23, 2014 Gerald Gene Brinkman of Peabody, passed away at his home at the age of 69 just two days before his 70th birthday.

Gerald was born in Gas City July 25, 1944. He grew up on a farm in Humboldt before making his way to Peabody where he lived with his wife Luba of 31 years.

After leaving the farm, Gerald was a truck driver, worked for the City of Peabody Utility Dept., and was a heavy equipment operator for construction companies for many years until his retirement. He then took up his hobby of woodworking making many beautiful pieces of furniture and specialties for family and friends to enjoy for a long time.

Gerald is survived by 6 children: sons James (Janette) Brinkman of Chanute, Richard (Josie) Holm of Peabody; daughters Annette (Eric) Ferrell of Dallas, TX., Deborah (David) Pusateri of Wichita, Elizabeth (John) Snelling of Augusta, Traci Gehrke of Wichita, and Bill Gehrke of Wichita, and Alisa (Holm) McDowell and Brian, of Peabody.

And also 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Gerald is preceded in death by his father Frank William Brinkman, of Humboldt, and mother Dorothy Louise (Beeman) Brinkman Nordt of Hawthorne, Nevada, a brother Robert Dean Brinkman and his wife Letha of Chanute, and sons Frank Allen Brinkman of Iola, and George Holm of Peabody.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Peabody Methodist Church at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and Peabody Senior Center in care of Petersen Funeral Home 215 North Main Newton, Kansas 67114
